Daryl Murphy

If we sign Daryl Murphy before selling any of our attackers them we have a potentially deadly strike force of Murphy, Kenwyne, Joe Mason, Macheda and Eoin Doyle.
I would be quite scared of those 5 if I came up against them and saw them in a match day squad. I think the Doyle/Murphy/Mason troops could bring us quite a few goals if we add one or two quality additions to the midfield.
This is my optimist prediction:
We sign Murphy, he's top scorer and nets the winner against Bristol City in the Championship Play Off final. Happy days!

Isnt he a bit unproven tho? (Correct me if im wrong) he's 32 and his only prolific goal scoring season was last season?

Murphy doesn't excite me at his age. The other players are OK to keep us up I hope. Personally think we need better but the problem has been the service to them.

Totally agree, awful signing if he costs four million. Player in his twilight but could be this seasons Lambert, Holt etc,... Aged journeymen that get their moment in the sun in their twilight years of their careers.

If he has one more season like last year and scores us the goals to get promoted i couldnt give a f**k if he retired the season after. 4 million pound signing for 150 million premiership money or whatever money it is now seems a good investment to me

Welsh reports continue to link Cardiff City with a summer move for Town’s 27-goal Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy.

Claims that Bluebirds boss Russell Slade is keen to sign Murphy first surfaced a week ago and now WalesOnline reports that the Irish international is top of the Cardiff manager’s close season wish list as he looks to take the Welsh club back into the Premier League at the second attempt, having finished 11th in 2014/15.

Slade is said to have been given owner Vincent Tan’s backing to move for Murphy, who some sources elsewhere claim is also interesting Fulham, with Cardiff believing an offer of £4 million might be enough to tempt Town into parting with the former Waterford, Sunderland and Celtic striker.

However, Murphy has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of leaving Town as he and his family are settled in Suffolk, while manager Mick McCarthy and owner Marcus Evans have said they are determined to keep hold of the Blues' key players this summer.

Murphy, who is currently away with the Ireland squad, signed a new contract with Town last July, which currently has another year left to run, while the club have an option to extend it for a further season.
