" ALEX REVELL? "

Aged 31

Striker

Approx Wage £5,000- £8,000 a week.

Revells previous clubs Kettering,Cambridge,Brighton,Southend,Swindon,Wycombe,With Slade at Orient and then Rotherham before joining Cardiff City.

City have signed Revell till June 2017.

Revell was signed by Russell Slade in 2010 when the Bluebirds boss was manager of Leyton Orient.

Scored 2 goals in 16 appearances for Cardiff last season

Scored 28 goals in 150 appearances for Rotherham in the lower divisions.

Personally I dont think Revell is a Championship striker.

Plenty of work, determination and gives 100%,but not good enough for the Championship.

Opinions :thumbright:

Do you rate Revell?

Would you keep Revell?

Is Revell a Championship Striker?

I agree with what you said, Annis. Gives his all but nky enough quality and IMO if he starts next season we will not. Make play-offs.

Yeah, think we can get better for the same fee. Someone younger and hungrier. I'd even be willing to try Rhys Healey over him. I can see why Slade signed him at the time but think he's dead wood now.

How can we judge our strikers when our midfield had been non existent, poor crosses into the area and a possession rate at a guess 35 per cent in most games...

Once we strengthen our midfield and wingers we may see Revell and other strikers score much more often.

Revell has never been a prolific goal scorer. Not good enough for championship level. Sell or release him.

Has to be moved on

Lower league journey man & we should offload him asap certainly not a Championship player :sladeout:

Steve, if we were to have to rely in Eevell as one of main strikers I could only see a relegation battle.

Revells past tells me that he's not a Championship player. He would of made it a long time ago.

I like Revell, he's decent on the deck and unselfishly runs himself into the ground for the team. Most fans don't realise the contribution he makes, but I think the Millwall game in particular shows how much we miss him when he's not up there leading the line. Revell will also be important for us when we choose to go 4-5-1, as he's a hard working mobile target man. I would definitely keep him and utilise him a lot next season. He isn't prolific, but neither was Heidar Helguson for us, and Helguson's contribution was immense.

totally agree Tonteg. his energy, workrate and never say die attitude will hopefully rub off on the team. im a big fan of his. people think just cos strikers dont score goals then their not good enough. Revel plays a vital role and will be key when Jones leaves. i think hes an excellent person to have in around the squad

I don't mind him, no superstar but works hard and does the simple things quite well. Low wage and a good squad player

I question these signings.

For me there is only one question that needs to be asked:

"Were we to get promoted could they step up and play in the Premiership?"

Im not suggesting they be superstars in the Premiership but, if they could hold their own and the answer is yes then sign them.

If the answer is no then they are a Championship player at best and, were we to get promoted, they would soon be surplus to requirements very quickly - and therefore a waste of money.

Slades. . Building the best league 1 side in the Championship

Alex Revell should be kept for back up not a great goal scorer but low on wages and give 100% when ever needed and may pop up with as goal or two.

With such a disapointing season I have to admit if there was a high light from last season it was Revels goal against
Brentford and his passionate celebration for 3 very important points

I believe Revell is more suited for Div 1.

I question Revell signing as for me not a Championship scorer.

If he was more composed and more of a clinical finisher I'd keep him, decent wage but needs to contribute more

I would keep him as a back up striker but if he is going to be a regular starter then I don't think we will make play offs.

Great goal against Brentford though to seal the 3 points in my favourite game last season

A natural goalscorer/finisher scores goals. Revel wasn't bought for that. Hes bought to do the donkey work as such for someone else to put them away. Obviously he has to chip in with a few himself aswell

Agree.

In a 4-4-2 formation playing old fashioned wide wingers. What exactly is the donkey work for a striker? Chasing down hoofballs playing first defender? Come on guys! If that was the plan you would have the entire team playing a high pressing game...
