FK Sarajevo

Tue Jun 02, 2015 12:46 am

Here you can write about FK Sarajevo, founded in 1946. One of the two biggest clubs in Bosnia and Herzegovina together with Željezničar, our fierce rivals.

National champions on two occasions in ex-Yugoslavia, in 1966/7 and 1984/85. After war in BiH, club continued to compete inBosnian First League, the league of independent BiH and became champions in 1998/99 season, with Alen Škoro, best striker in after-war history of our club and entire league. Then it was a long wait before we're crowned as champions again in 2006/07 season. After that, when we expected our club to rule domestically and to maybe even make european breakthrough, disaster stroke again. Dark times began. Some suspicious people were set in our board, players with suspicious careers and qualities were signed, debts were getting bigger and bigger...we desperately needed some radical changes. And they came. In 2009/10 season new board came in. Positive things began to happen. Željezničar was still the best team in country, but our supporters felt positive vibe in and around the club. In winter of the season 2012/13, our director Dino Selimović found Vincent Tan and somehow(I have no idea how :D ) convinced him to invest his money in FK Sarajevo. Debts were payed almost entirely, around 3 million KM(1,5M €). Accounts were unblocked, solid players were signed for free...and we won the national cup. Three days ago, we won the league, after 8 disturbing, painful years.

I think that FK Sarajevo deserves it's topic here, at least while mr. Tan is the owner of both clubs. :) If it bothers you in any way, feel free to delete it.

Its not so much you are not welcome its the fact Tan is getting it right in football terms that a few on here won't be able to stomach or accept. It doesn't fit in with the master plan.

It's good to debate our joint owner, Vincent Tan.

My opinion is that he has found the correct level where he would be most happy with FK Sarajevo. Just needs to sell us to enjoy the adulation he rightfully receives in Sarajevo

English football has strong opponents all the through the football pyramid. In Bosnia, am I right in saying the opposition comes from Sarajevo clubs and the pro-croatian team that plays in Mostar?

Much harder for Tan in English football to be a success and my opinion, and the results show, he is not capable. We are in a worse position now than when he took over, Fact. It is not easy to be successful in football over here due to the strong competitors who are run well.

Welcome.
I'm looking forward to the Wales away game on 10 Oct 15.
I love Sarajevo as I've visited there twice when I lived in Banja Luka.
Hopefully we can take your best players to Cardiff....

Having 3 teams in the same football association (UEFA) this can't be good for football. People like Tan will destroy football along with the UEFA bureaucrats that allowed this.

Tan failed at Cardiff this season, doesn't matter, the party seemed class in Sarajevo

Buckleys Brewery

Yes, this year we won the title in front of Zeljeznicar(Sarajevo), Zrinjski(Mostaf) and Siroki Brijeg. As far as I'm concerned they can be pro Croatian, pro Spanish or pro Uzbekistanish :D, it's a FACT that they are Bosnian clubs, wether they like it or not.

Anyway, I wanted to ask Grobari Partizan...you warched Serbian League. Can you please tell me more about Mario Maslac?

Dženo is our fireman :D He doesn't have A Pro licence yet, so we'll probably have to look for new coach this summer, but whenever things got nervous and complicated, Dzenan Uscuplic came in and sorted everything out. :D He won us a cup last year and league this year- :D

Our board wouldn't sign Sir Alex Ferguson right now :D, cause of language. They are considering only the names who speak Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, and maybe Slovenian. It's not easy to communicate with the player in language that is not their first.

Would love to get my hands on your kit. Tan needs a new Marketing football team infront of him to make the most out of this "Feeder Clubs" situation. Currently has his fingers in 5 different teams I believe now, and he could cash in on selling all 5 team shirts in limited availability at the club shops of all 5! I believe Manchester City sell New York shirts?

FK Sarajevo is playing against the champions of Poland, Lech Poznan(second qualifying round of CL). As it stands, the Polish team is a clear favourite, but in order to try to change it, FK Sarajevo signed few very good players in past week.

Milan Stepanov(Serbia, 32, central defender, played for Vojvodina(Serbia), Trabzonspor(Turkey), FC Porto(Portugal), Malaga C.F.(Spain) - loan, Bursaspor(Turkey), Mersin(Turkey), Omonia Nikosia(Cyprus).

Harmony Ikande(Nigeria, 24, Defensive midfielder/central midfielder, played for: Milan Primavera(Italy), Monza(Italy) - loan, Milan(Italy), US Poggibonsi(Italy) - loan, Extramadura UD(Spain) - loan, Budapest Honved(Hungary), B. Yerusalem(Israel), Goverla(Ukraine), Hapoel Tel Aviv(Israel)-----he is propably a substitute for Gojko Cimirot who is going to be sold this summer. :(

Tomislav Barbarić(Croatia, 26, central defender, played for Dinamo Zagreb(Croatia), NK Lokomotiva(Croatia) - loan, NK Istra 1961(Croatia) - loan, NK Lokomotiva(Croatia), Sturm Graz(Austria), RNK Split(Croatia).

Almir Bekić(Bosnia and Herzegovina, 26, left midfielder, played for FK Sloboda Tuzla(BiH), NK DInamo Zagreb(Croatia), NK Lokomotiva(Croatia) - loan, GOSK Gabela(BiH) - loan, NK Sesvete(Croatia) - loan.

Anel Hebibovic(Bosnia and Herzegovina, 24, right midfielder/right back, played for FK Igman Konjic(BiH), GOŠK Gabela(BiH), Velež Mostar(BiH).

Rijad Kobiljar , Bosnia and Herzegovina, 19, position central midfielder, Attacking midfielder, played for some college in USA, signed his first proffesional contract with FK Sarajevo. Completely unknown to fans and media.

Some sources from the club say that the transfer windows isn't over yet for FK Sarajevo and that Simon Vukčević is signing a contract with us in the next few days, but...let's wait until it's official. :D
