Malky Mackay - Does he ruin clubs?

Mon Jun 01, 2015 3:56 pm

Would anyone agree with this? Effectively ruined us and Wigan.

Our players were on massive wages, apparently Maximiliano Amondarain is on £8k, despite being at the age of 22 and never playing at first team level for us? I don't even think he's been on the bench.
£30m on wages in our Championship winning season, the Cornelius flop. The small release clause in Campbell's contract? Leaving no actual philosophy for our next managers.

Then we look at what he did with Wigan, no home win there at all. Signing older players on high wages. Is he an overrated manager and does he ruin clubs?

Pretty unfair, he did get us to a final starting with a squad that barely had 11 players, and then up in the second season.

Yes he's been very poor when it comes to transfers, and he was like a kid in a sweet shop when Tan give him an open wallet. With Wigan he was abysmal, and will most likely need to kickstart his career again with a lower league club.

But no, he does not ruin clubs, but he had ruined his own reputation with the texts and Wigan.

He made mistakes with us, but he delivered premiership football and IMO would have kept us up if he wasn't sacked, which people seem to look past.

We had a squad of 12 players when he took over.

Then he took us to the premiet league earning us 60 mill + or whatever it is.

As tan has proven, money doesnt mean success.

So no.

What, people look past your opinion?
Probably because it is just that and cannot be proved.

Resources made to available to him by Tan got us up, not to mention the quality of the Championship that year

I'm a huge critic and he messed up in a bad way.

But ruining clubs is quite a claim, he did a lot of damage to U.S., but Tan, Ole, Slade, the fans and Dalman all have their parts to play for us.

Whoever came in had the time and money to stave off relegation but Ole wasn't up to it at all.

Dalman was hell bent on Ole that he wasn't vetted enough at all.

Tan and his rebrand gave the club an edge it is still yet to recover, if it ever will under him, forcing Maly's hand in many ways, to make short term plans to get the club up rather than build anything long term.

The fans standing by Malky as though he was some idol has added to the jobs Ole and Slade have had to do, the need of fans to hold Malky up as this Titan that went up against Tan (a fiction at best, a delusional best). When in reality he misspent Tan's money, loved the rebrand, acted like a racist knob on a company phone and gave the squad an inferiority complex, all big bad marks on Malky's record.

As for Wigan, there were problems there, he had his hands tied to an extent but had the time given how weak the teams around him were to get them safe.

His reputation is rightly tarnished, but he's not the only guilty one at the club.

Not sure how how he done at watford but they didn't seem to like him.

His transfers and racist attitude have sent us years behind.

Sent Wigan down without a fight.

Hope get fails in life; horrible person and a disease on our club.
