Steven Caulker

Is it just me that thinks he is a bit overrated. When he was with us he did okay but was nothing special and at QPR when I've seen him play he has been beyond poor. It was a great bit of business to get £8 million for him at a time when QPR were off their heads with spending.
I think the pressure of being a 'future England captain' hasn't helped. I just think it's a bit of a waste of a promising player. I would be a bit surprised if he stays in the Premier League, I don't think he is good enough or mature enough. Shame really. :ayatollah: :sladein:

I always believed that with an experienced centre half next to him and not being the player to lead the team with the pressure on him then Caulker would grow as a player.

I didn't follow his QPR season but how many times did he play alongside Ferdinand ?

Can't find the exact number but whenever I saw them on sky barring the end of the season, he was either playing with Richard Dunne or Rio Ferdinad. Can't ask for much more than that.

Rio and Caulker did not play together that many times whatsoever. Usually it was Caulker and Dunne and personally I feel that Dunne is way past it these days. Rio had a lot of injuries last season and at times he lacked fitness. Then of course the problems that he was having in his private life with his terribly I'll wife - who unfortunately has now passed on, RIP. These were the main reasons that they had so little playing time together. It's a bit unfortunate cause I feel that Rio would have taught Caulker so much and he would have made him into a better defender. Had they of played together a bit more they may have gone on and formed a really good partnership. I agree with you Carl about Caulker needing an experienced partner next to him for him to prove that he can become again a very good Premiership centre half. I still believe that he will do it as I do think he is a very good defender, it's just the fact that the past two seasons he has been at a struggling side. When he starts to play alongside better players at a bigger club, then I think we will see his true talent come to the surface. Hopefully he can get a move to a Top 10 Premier club in the summer. Good luck Steve.

Bloooooobirds.

Needs to realize how lucky he is to be playing football for a living , grow up and start behaving like an adult and concentrate on learning the game.

Successive relegations and numerous headlines for off the field incidents.

Needs to knuckle down and keep his head down for a couple of seasons and try to get his career back on track.

I thought when QPR signed Ferdinand that the Ferdinand/ Caulker partnership would be immense. Unfortunately, they had two dire full backs next to them so were exposed from out wide. I'm not entirely sure Ferdinand's heart was in it due to a mixture of what was going on in his personal life and QPR being such an anti-climax after Manchester United. Caulker also appears to lack the professional discipline required to succeed in the top flight.
