The future is bright/be optimistic

Sun May 31, 2015 9:52 am

I know we had a poor season on the pitch last year but it was a year of transition and if someone had said at the start of the season "you can have your identity and a nice badge if you sacrifice a season" then I would have bitten there hand off.
We have the spine of a decent team, we are one of the biggest clubs in the league, we have our colours back and personally I think if we get off to a good start we can slip under the radar and make the play-offs.
Some of our players would fit right into most sides in the Championship, it's just that confidence was low last season. We have some good players coming back from loan deals like Connolly, Le Fondre etc who can either get their heads down and work or we can get a nice fee for.
If the rumours are true and we can get Gayle or Murphy we have the makings of a decent team. We've got a derby against Bristol City and there is no pressure on us. Also, all the glory hunters that renewed because they thought we would be back in the prem straight away will be gone so maybe the atmosphere will improve.
I am optimistic, I want to enjoy next season and I think we can make the play offs. Let's back Slade and the players and have a crack at The Championship. BLOOOOOOOOOOBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDSSSSSS :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :sladein:

James, fans need to remain patient imo as the transition is nowhere near complete and there will be many more ins and outs.

I'm sure there will be, Carl. It's what make following City great, we are a special club. I think that Slade is the right man to take us through the transition period, he knows what he's doing and he's doing what he's been told to do very well.

It was not a sacrificed season but more of a total screw up thanks to bad management. The return to blue was more of a we have no choice but to return. I would not call it a nice badge but a gentle reminder what is capable with the presence of the wriggly worm.

Regarding a bright future well I look at teams that have fallen from the top flight to find themselves in league one a couple of seasons later. Teams like Forest, Leicester, Leeds, Wolves and Southampton. Those teams fell and their problems were no where near as difficult as ours yet we seem quite comfortable mid table after threatening on the edge of relegation. My optimism is all ou problems were our own doing and we cannot make it as difficult as that again.....can we?

I think Ole created the mess, Slade has not been perfect but he has steadied the ship. I think when we start with a clean slate things will improve.

I don't share your optimism, I think we have the wrong Manager, so feel it will be as frustrating as last year, but I hope your right !!!

Nice badge?
Sacrifice a season?
The spine of a decent team?
Not if Marshall & Manga depart as looks likely. There's your spine of the team destroyed in one swoop.
The glory hunters are long gone last season & the atmosphere was like a morgue due to Slades brand of football, tactics & complete non-motivational skills.
I sort of admire your naive optimism but keep dreaming.

Agree with your main post, I just hope we don't lose too much quality in this transfer season. I think it'll take a while to get to the playoffs regularly, but we'll make it back again.
