According to reports from The Daily Star and WalesOnline this morning, Liverpool are preparing a £5million bid for Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall.
The 30 year-old was one of the Bluebirds’ star performers as they failed to stave off relegation from the top flight last season, making the most saves of any Premier League ‘keeper with an incredible 129. The next best was Sunderland’s Vito Mannone, on 99.
Liverpool were linked with the Scotland international ahead of last summer by The Metro in April, and again during the 2015 January transfer window by Here Is The City.
And according to reports this morning, Brendan Rodgers has revived his interest in Marshall once again as the Liverpool gaffer continues to search for an understudy who can put pressure on Reds No.1 Simon Mignolet.
Deeming Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic too expensive and now expecting fellow goalkeeping targets Mat Ryan and Noberto Neto to join Roma and Juventus respectively, the Anfield outfit believe Marshall can be attained with the £5million budget they’ve set aside for a new goalie.

LIVERPOOL are back in the hunt for Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall.

The Anfield club have earmarked around £5million for a goalkeeper but have struggled to identify someone who can challenge current No.1 Simon Mignolet.
Potential target Mat Ryan, 23, of Club Brugge, is wanted by Roma while Fiorentina’s Norberto Neto, 25, is heading to Juventus.
Bolton’s Adam Bogdan, 27, is not thought to be consistent enough and Stoke’s Asmir Begovic, 27, is too expensive.
Marshall, 29, who was the subject of an offer from Everton last season, was previously linked with the Reds until Mignolet turned around his awful early-season form.
Liverpool have a limited summer budget but that could change if they sell forward Raheem Sterling.

Interesting as they would have to start their first 3 Prem games without him and thats a lot of games to miss.

That's true Annis but if Marshall does harbour any hope of going to top prem club then I would imagine he would have to hide his time a little bit to earn the number spot anyway.

True Carlos, I honestly believe if Marshall is ever going to go to the Prem,it would be this season.

Would want £6m plus cup win and Prem top 4 incentivisation

Marshall has been a superb professional and a top keeper for us! Wouldn't blame him if he left us! He would only be second choice at Liverpool for a while but if an offer came in of £5mil plus we would be bonkers not to accept it!
We have a decent champ keeper in Moore who is more than ready to make the step up to no.1

Premier League giants set on Cardiff stopper

According to reports, Liverpool have reignited their interest in Cardiff’s Number 1 David Marshall as they look for someone who can challenge current first team keeper Simon Mignolet.
The Reds were apparently touting Stoke’s Asmir Begovic as the ideal transfer target but have been priced out by the Potters and so have had to search elsewhere.
If Liverpool sell Raheem Sterling – which is a distinct possibility – they will have more than enough funds to make a respectable offer for the Bluebirds stopper.
Marshall started his career at Celtic, spending five years with the Scottish Champions – winning both the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Cup – before moving to Norwich City in 2006.
Two years at Carrow Road with consistent performances in the Championship led to a move to Cardiff where Marshall has been even since. Playing over 200 times for the Bluebirds, and being an integral part of the squad that attained promotion to the Premier League in 2012-13, boss Russell Slade will be eager to keep hold of the 30 year-old.

Tan will be sending the private plane to take Marshall to Liverpool to make sure the deal is done as soon as possible.
Hope he's going there as first choice as he's too old and too good to spend the rest of his career sat on the bench.
