Bournemouth signed Joshua King today so looks like Gayle is off their list, surely this paves the way for us to make a bid, 3.5 million would be enough i reckon and what a signing he would be, plenty of pace and a great finisher, just what we need.

Just not going to happen.

We may get him for £3.5m, but that would be a down payment to be paid right away. Then on top of that there would be other payments to be made like, £1m if Cardiff get to the Prem or £1m if Gayle scores 20 goals plus or there maybe a buy back clause for the first year only for the same price what we paid them. There are loads of different clauses and incentives inserted into contracts these days. One thing I know for sure is that we will NOT get Gayle for just £3.5m. If Gayle signed and he stayed he for a few years and the conditions for the other payments were met and were paid, then the overall fee - on top of the £3.5m that was paid in the beginning - would probably total between £6m-£6.5m.

Personally, I think if that was the fee that we would need to pay to acquire Dwight Gayle permanently, then I would pay it. He's a born goalscorer, he has proved it in every division, even at Premiership level.
