Cardiff City 'target' Bruno Ribeiro walks out on Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal

Ribeiro says he is ready for new challenge as Bluebirds links continue in Portuguese media, but Cardiff have denied any interest in him as manager

Bruno Ribeiro, the Portuguese manager heavily linked with Cardiff City earlier this year, has walked out on club Vitoria Setubal claiming he is ready for a new challenge.

Ribeiro, a former Leeds United midfielder, had been the subject of intense speculation in his homeland over apparent interest from the Bluebirds earlier in the season, something strenuously denied by Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman.

Ribeiro, who is said to have been championed by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, has announced his departure following the end of the Portuguese season after he helped his club remain in the top-flight.

I thought he may have walked out a while ago and taken the Leeds job, but with Rosler there now he must have something else lined up.

We cannot have been the only club interested in the past.

:sleepy2: From what's been coming out of the club, this appears to be a non starter for us.

More rubbish. Tan will keep his man...there to slash expenditure, ready for eventual attempt to sell club and recover his debt.

Agree, he is not likely to sack his chosen manager, I would even be surprised if he sacked Slade if we were in the bottom 3 at Christmas. I think we can forget about a new manager for a while.
