Wolves and Cardiff City join race to sign 24-year-old striker
Premier League side Crystal Palace are willing to listen to offers for striker Dwight Gayle this summer which has alerted Wolves and Cardiff City, according to The Mirror.
But the two Championship clubs will face stiff competition as recently-promoted Bournemouth are keen on the former Peterborough United forward as they prepare for life in the top-flight.
Gayle has failed to win over Alan Pardew at Selhurst Park and is free to leave for the right price.
However, he is contracted until 2017 and won’t be sold on the cheap.
The 24-year-old joined Palace in the summer of 2013 for a club record £6 million from Peterborough. He has hit 18 goals in 54 matches for the Eagles but has found himself on the fringes of the squad following Pardew’s appointment as manager.
Gayle was on the books at Arsenal as a youngster but was released and joined non-league side Stansted, where he scored 57 goals in one season.
He was signed by Dagenham and Redbridge in the summer of 2011 and was immediately sent out on loan to Bishop’s Stortford, where he hit 29 goals in 42 games.
The striker returned to Dagenham and found the net seven times in 18 matches before joining Peterborough, initially on loan which lead to a £500,000 transfer to London Road.
Gayle scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for the Posh before joining Palace.

Maybe. But we don't need to spend big money on a shadow chaser. They come cheap!

He would give us some of what what we lack most- pace. But I can't see him coming here.

But pace in the wrong position though. Money should be spent to create balance in the middle and ability to build up play. All this poor fella would achieve is chasing hoof balls and passes behind the lines. He will go down like all the other strikers, a failure from lack of support.

We don't have a good enough striker force to win this league
so of course we need to build and be ambitious

Why can't we just go for Dirk Kuyt ,as his daughter goes to Howell's School?

Sign him and midfielders who can hold the ball plus hold the midfield then we'll be fine. Our midfield let us down last season. I'm my opinion of course.
