Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has driven an effort to provide tonnes of humanitarian aid to refugees in south-east Asia.
The Malaysian billionaire is spearheading the move to provide support to refugees who have spent months stranded at sea off Malaysia and Indonesia.
The aid work will be carried out through the Better Malaysia Foundation, of which he is chairman, reports Malaysian newspaper The Sun Daily.
'I urge everyone to do their bit'
The Rohingya and Bangladeshi refugees have previously been turned away by the governments of Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
But Tan, who bought the Bluebirds in 2010 and has attempted to boost the club’s profile in the Asian market, said he wanted to do his bit for the refugees.
The Sun Daily reported him as saying in a statement: “We sympathise with the plight of the stranded refugees and I hope that through these few immediate initiatives we can alleviate their suffering somewhat.
“I would like to urge everyone to do their bit, no matter how small the contribution.”
