Filip Kiss: Ross County midfielder has red card overturned

Filip Kiss is free to make a farewell appearance for Ross County after winning a claim of wrongful dismissal.

A Scottish FA tribunal upheld his appeal against the red card he received on Saturday following a tussle with Hamilton's Darian MacKinnon.

Referee Bobby Madden sent the 24-year-old off as players jostled for position at a corner kick.

Kiss will now be able to face Kilmarnock in the final match before his loan deal from Cardiff expires.

Trio have SFA bans dropped

JOSH MAGENNIS, Scott McDonald and Filip Kiss were yesterday given cause to celebrate after dodging SFA suspensions.

Partick Thistle midfielder Steven Lawless also got off lightly with a two-match ban, with another four suspended, for betting on 513 football matches between 2012 and this year.

Kilmarnock’s Magennis was hauled in front of a Hampden disciplinary panel by SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan after he appeared to head-butt team-mate Jamie Hamill in last weekend’s win over Partick.

The incident was witnessed by match referee John Beaton but he, like the panel, decided no further action should be taken, leaving Magennis available for the visit of Ross County.
County’s Kiss also won a case of unfair dismissal against Hamilton and will be available.

Motherwell were, perhaps, the most relieved as McDonald’s red card, for an alleged elbow on St Mirren’s Thomas Reilly, was overturned.

It means the experienced striker is available to face Thistle tomorrow and both legs of the upcoming Premiership Play-off final against Rangers or Hibs.

Jags will further punish Lawless, but boss Alan Archibald – relieved his man will only miss one match of next term, as well as tomorrow’s Motherwell clash – is keen to ensure the winger emerges stronger from this episode.

He said: “We’ll speak to Stevie and will deal with him internally as well. He broke the rules.

“We’ll still be offering Stevie a contract. We’ll look to get him tied up as soon as we can, the same as the rest of the players.

“Yes, he has done wrong but we need to make sure he is right as a person and is fine moving forward.”
