Vincent Tan has flown to Europe to discuss transfer targets and season objectives with Russell Slade as well as visting KV Kortrijkt

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan flies into Europe to discuss Bluebirds and finalise Belgian deal

Wed 20th May 2015

BY TERRY PHILLIPS

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan will step up his planning for the Bluebirds for next season as he flies into Europe from Asia today to deal with various football matters.

Malaysian billionaire Tan will be officially unveiled as the new owner of Belgian first division club KV Kortrijk on Thursday and is scheduled to hold a press conference in the evening.

It seems certain that while he is in Europe, he will also have talks about his plans for Cardiff for the looming Championship campaign.

Bluebirds chief executive Ken Choo has made a number of trips from Cardiff to work on the deal to buy Kortrijk and is thought to be joining Tan in Belgium.

Choo and Tan will discuss plans for Cardiff and the request from manager Russell Slade to bring in up to four new signings for 2015-16.

Slade is away on a short break and is unlikely to meet Tan on this trip, but the two men are scheduled to get together in Kuala Lumpur early next month.

First, though, Tan will host his press conference in Belgium where he will answer questions on becoming owner of a third European club after having done previous deals for Sarajevo and Cardiff.

He is paying around 5m Euros for the West Flanders-based outfit, who finished fifth in Belgium’s top flight.

People are slagging Tan and Slade off already before any discussions have gone ahead, i dont expect £10 million pound signings but i think a few of our fans are in for a shock if they think we will only sign players for less than half a million etc.Im convinced one or two will cost a few million. :thumbright: :bluebird:

I'm not a fan of Slade and can't see our club moving forward under him but it looks like he's going to be given another chance and I really do hope he proves me wrong :bluescarf:

I dont want Slade as manager anymore but its Tans decision and i suppose i will just have to get used to it and give him my backing regardless..As for our signings like i said im convinced one or two will definitely be over a million or two :thumbright:

Tan and Slade discussing transfer targets.

Two knowledgable football men with all the experience needed to plot a promotion campaign.

Or the blind leading the blind?

David,
Very worrying indeed.

I know that Tan also gives Slade a list of players he wants,so City end up with half a team of Slade's players and half a team of decorators

To be fair Annis i know Tan is not a football man etc, but neither is Huw Jenkins or Abramovich who both have the final say on their clubs transfers out and in of the respective clubs and that is a fact. :thumbright:

Lets hope Slade does get around £15m then, that will hopefully do it.

Depends how much Tan wants to pump in to his Belgian team if he needs to?
