Tw@@s on the road thread!

Wed May 20, 2015 5:24 pm

Why do so many people think its appropriate to pull on to a motorway or dual carriage way at bloody 20mph! Do they not realise that the slip road is there for you to get to a safe speed to get onto the road? I saw someone with a green P on their car do it yesterday who perhaps didn't get to that in their test. I also saw a line of traffic ground to a virtual halt by some Pr@@k who doesn't know what a slip road is today! Could have caused an accident!

Seen the same thing happening when people leave the motorway. They start braking while still on main carriageway instead of decelerating and braking on the slip road.

On the flip side, it's a pain when trying to enter the motorway traffic and a car alreadt in the lane will not move into the middle lane for you to enter.

Some people are just too scared to leave a lane.

The problem nowadays is that so many drivers pull into the middle lane about a mile before a junction and stay there for about a mile after in order to let people on, sometimes a there isn't even anyone trying to get on, this effectively reduces the motorway to a two lane road causing unecessary congestion, especially on the m4 around newport where there are so many junctions.
The answer is very simple, stay in lane but keep your distance which allows cars to enter. Unfortunately many people drive very close to the car in front just to make sure that no one has the cheek to change into their lane and end up in front of them.

The biggest problem on motorways, aggression and selfishness.

It's called "awareness" - too many people do not look further than the car in front of them, that's if they are not on their phone of course!!

A good driver is constantly observing , front, rear, and sides, anticipating traffic conditions and potential hazards.

Amazing how many people drive with no indicators!!!

disagree the biggest problem is people not knowing the highway code and being scared whilst on motorways you should also need a certain amount of motorway hours after your test before being able to use them.
