It’s an important off-season for Cardiff City, as Russell Slade looks to rebuild an average squad and reignite the interest of the fans. No one is quite sure of the funds Slade will be given for the summer, and may well be made to rely on any player sales. In this post, we take a look at a player Slade could sign from every club in the Premiership.
1. Arsenal – Chuba Akpom
Slim pickings from a quality Gooners squad, so a loan option may be Slade’s best option. The Young English striker has impressed in his seven appearances on loan at Nottingham Forrest this year, and there’s no doubt that Wenger will be looking to get him some more experience on loan next season. Cardiff have struggled for goals and could be the place for Akpom to score his first professional goal.
2. Aston Villa – Enda Stevens
Cardiff need to improve their defence and the young Irishman could be the answer. He’s currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers, where he’s made 19 appearences, and fits the bill for the cheap players Slade has looked to bring in so far.
3. Burnley – Ross Wallace
Cardiff are dying for some pace out wide and Scottish winger Wallace could be the man to bring that to the side. Available on a free transfer, but Burnley may look to extend that now their relegation has been confirmed.
4. Chelsea – Josh McEachran
The former Swansea loanee has had a stop-start time in his career so far. He made his Champions League debut at 17 and was tipped as the future of Chelsea. He’s currently on loan in Holland and could be seeking another loan move next season.
5. Crystal Palace – Johnny Williams
The young Welshman should be known to all Cardiff fans and has a bright future. Johnniesta, as he is know by Welsh fans, is a talented flair player who would bring a lot of what Cardiff are lacking to Slade’s squad.
6. Everton – Conor McAleny
The young attacker is currently on loan at the Cardiff City Stadium and Slade may well look to extend this for another year. He’s shown promise and should prove inexpensive.
7. Hull City – Joe Dudgeon
The former Manchester United trainee is currently on loan at Barnsley, but might see his days numbered at Hull. He’s 24 now and may need to move on for regular first-team football.
8. Leicester – Chris Wood
Cardiff need firepower and Wood brings that. The New Zealand international spent time on loan with Ipswich this season, after scoring 12 goals in appearances for Leicester. Like Dudgeon, he could need to move on to find a true home.
9. Liverpool – Jerome Sinclair
The young striker has impressed for the Liverpool youth team before making his full team debut this year. They have high hopes for him at Anfield and will be looking to extend his experience out on loan next year. Cardiff should be at the front of the queue to sign him.
10. Manchester City – Bruno Zucilini
The young Argentinian has a big reputation and last year’s Champions could be looking to get him experience in Britain after his year’s loan at Cordoba. Cardiff could do with his steel and quality in their midfield.
11. Manchester United – Will Keane
The young striker has a bright future and could look to leave Old Trafford to pursue first team football. This cold be on loan or on a permanent deal, as his brother Michael did last summer.
12. Newcastle United – Sammy Ameobi
The younger brother of cult-hero Shola Ameobi looks set to run down his contract at St James’ Park. His pace is deadly and would bring a missing element to the City squad.
13. Q.P.R – Joey Barton
The ever-controversial Barton is out-of-contract in the summer and would be an interesting addition to the Bluebirds squad. A bit of quality on the ball and the fight and desire to win would adhere Barton to the city faithful.
14. Southampton – Sam Gallagher
The promising youngster played 18 times last year, but has seen his opportunities limited this year and hasn’t made a single appearance. He could look to move on to gain first team football, either permanently or on loan.
15. Stoke – Andy Wilkinson
The academy graduate has been a stalwart for Stoke for many years, before seeing his first team football cut this season. At 30, gams are important and would improve Cardiff’s defence.
16. Sunderland – Wes Brown
35 years old, but has won it all with Manchester United. His experience and leadership could be key for Russell Slade next season. He is available on a free, but wages could be a problem.
17. Swansea – Kyle Bartley
Tough to choose any player from City’s arch rivals Swansea, so this one is unlikely. Bartley has only played 6 times this year and could be looking to gain first team football elsewhere.
18. Tottenham – Dele Ali
The youngster impress enough in League 1 for Spurs to sign him during the January transfer window. He’s been at MK Dons for the remainder of the season and there’s little doubt Spurs will be looking for him to get more experience out on loan.
19. West Bromwich Albion – Boaz Myhill
Should Marshall leave, then Welsh international keeper Myhill could be a safe bet to challenge young Stuart Moore for the starting berth.
20. West Ham United – Carlton Cole
Out of contract and a spearhead for a potential Bluebirds attack. Cole is on the wrong side of 30, but could still prove a shrew edition to Slade’s side, especially if Kenwyne Jones departs.

Jerome Sinclair would be a dream. Very promising player, doubt we'd get him though.

This is the OP saying player we should be looking at not saying we are looking at them

Some decent players there.
I would definitely take Jerome Sinclair & Johnny Williams and maybe Wallace as we need a pacey winger who can cross the ball.
I would NOT touch Joey Barton with a bargepole.
Blooobirds Forever !!!
