Wolves could launch £3m bid for Bluebirds striker Joe Mason

Bluebirds boss Russell Slade has proved a big fan of Mason, bringing him back from a loan spell at Bolton last season and giving him a run of games
Cardiff City could be set to lose Joe Mason with reports suggesting Championship rivals Wolves are launching a £3m bid to land the striker.
After seeing his side narrowly miss out on the play-off places, Wanderers’ manager Kenny Jackett is thought to be looking to add to his attacking options next term with 24-year-old Mason at the top of his shopping list.
Bluebirds boss Russell Slade has proved a big fan of Mason, bringing him back from a loan spell at Bolton last season and giving him a run of games at the back end of the campaign and the frontman grabbed a goal in the win over Blackpool last month.
Mason responded well to Slade’s faith, building a promising pairing with fellow Cardiff frontman Eoin Doyle, but as the Bluebirds boss looks to build his squad himself this summer it is thought a bid of that size could well prove enough to force the Bluebirds’ hand.
After arriving in the Welsh capital in July 2011 for £250,000, Mason looked like making the break-through at the club under former manager Malky Mackay. He played a significant part in Cardiff’s successful Premier League promotion campaign.
But during Cardiff’s season in the top-flight, Mason barely featured and was sent out on loan on two spells to Bolton. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent Mason out on loan again to the Trotters at the start of last season, but having seen his time in Lancashire curtailed due to injury, Slade then brought him back into the fold.
During his time at Cardiff Mason has scored 19 goals in 55 appearances.
Slade has already allowed Nicky Maynard to leave the club and if Mason were to follow that would leave him with just Doyle, Federico Macheda and Alex Revell as his recognised frontmen. Slade though is thought to be keen to add more firepower to his squad ahead of the new campaign.

this , Whilst 3m (if true) is inflated price on him , I would still rather keep him as lets be honest the money wont go back on other players and on the debt it's just a drop in the ocean I would rather keep him and develop him here

Is there any truth in this so called bid? Lets face it, if Wolves value him so highly, then they must see potential in the lad.
I hope we don't do another Rudy,,,,& that's another message to you!

The difference this time is that we would get some decent money instead of peanuts.

I would take 3million for him. I'd be happy with 1.5million for him.

I would be shocked if they bid 3 mill for him, not that I don't think he's a hood player. Didn't set the world alight at Bolton and nit really got a top strike rate

If Wolves want to offer big money for a very average striker, good luck to them

I really like Mason as a person, I've met him quite a few times and he's not like your average footballer, he is quiet and comes across as very modest.
I don't see him as much of a footballer though, I would take anything over a million, but can't see this story being true at all, I would see a club trying offer of £400,000 or so and test the water......

Can't they offer to take Revell off our hands instead
