" The Jay Bothroyd Interview: Why Cardiff City should ditch Russell Slade for my mate Craig Bellamy "

The goal ace insists Bluebirds fans deserve a manager who loves the club and wants to promote an exciting brand of football, claiming Craig Bellamy is that man
Former Cardiff City hot-shot Jay Bothroyd insists the Bluebirds fans deserve more than Russell Slade's direct brand of football and should turn to former teammate Craig Bellamy for the solution.
The England international, who is currently in a rich vein of scoring form for Jubilo Iwata, in Japan, insists former teammate Bellamy is the perfect fit for his hometown club because he's a champion of exciting football.
Bothroyd told WalesOnline: “I don't think Russell Slade is the man to take the club forward.
“I would like to see someone in charge that loves the club and wants to play an exciting way of football.
“My choice would be Craig Bellamy.”
Bellamy revealed he turned down the manager's job "out of loyalty to Malky Mackay" when he was offered it in the aftermath of the Scot's dismissal but has since taken a coaching job in the club's academy.
But whatever happens this summer, Bothroyd admits to being “saddened” by the current plight of the club he spent the best three years of his career at, saying: “I have seen a few Cardiff games and it hasn't been a good season.
“The only way they can think about pushing for promotion next season is if the right players are brought in and the players start to believe in the way the manager wants to play.
“But at the moment, the best they can hope for is to improve on this season and then take it step by step.”
Bothroyd, who still loves the Bluebirds and admits his favourite memories were beating Swansea 2-1 on Easter Saturday in 2010 and 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium the following season, feels so strongly that he's taken to social media to demand a better brand of football, while sat at home on the other side of the world.
In response to our story, which picked through the stats that showed the Bluebirds up to be a shot-shy route one team who love headers, Bothroyd tweeted: “Wow! Who wants to watch or play that kind of football.”
But Bothroyd is now enjoying life away from the Championship promotion pressure cooker, plying his trade at the top of the Japanese equivalent.
He said: “Playing in Japan is amazing. The level is similar to the Championship and the lower end of the Premier League. The only difference is the speed and physicality.
“The fans are really good and I'd like to think they've taken to me, as I've scored five goals in seven games and we're top of the league at the moment.”

contrary to the 'wasted talent' that always get thrown at him, I would say he is doing really well at this moment in time. Get promoted with his club, score lots of goals and then onto J League 1. Well done Bothroyd, finally settled

I for one, would like to see CB as City manager one day,,,& one day soon.
His experience & level of professionalism would be of a great advantage to us, I'm sure of it!

Why Bellamy? He has no management experience and honestly, how deep is his love for the club really?
The papers and (please offer me a contract Cardiff) Bothroyd keep bleating on about this Hometown hero Bellamy (who is a liverpool supporter) being our best option but why?
Toshack is an ex City player with a wealth of experience in management (plus promotion for the 700+ games with no promotion whingers) does not mean he'd be good here!!
Gabbidon and Young are more cardiff city than Bellamy, and That didn't work out did it!!
Is it because Bellamy is a mouthy no nonsense person? so was Roy Keane How good was he?
I completely understand those who want to replace Slade, You all have very good reason for that. But articles such as this ridicules the whole idea of replacing him with a better manager. It's Solskjaer all over again.
Big name player does not mean Great Manager.!!!!

Cardiff may not have been his first love but he does have passion for the club. The truth is that he doesn't see eye to eye with Tan and doesn't want to affect his son's chances by getting involved at this time
