A forum for all things Cardiff City

If we had Bristol on one side of us and Swansea on the other and both playing in the PL, would this hurt us, or make no difference to us, as we support Cardiff whatever league we are in, or has the average football fan changed over the decades

Unbelievably, I am aware of some people, particularly outside of Cardiff, who switched to watching Swansea when they went up so I wouldn't put it past a minority doing that with Bristol City. The vast majority would never switch allegiance.
On the flip side, I think Bristol City and Swansea in the Premier League could benefit us. Players that don't make the grade with their youth sides could drop into ours (even though we should be getting to them first... but we all know how our youth recruitment works!) but also off the pitch it could bring more tourists to Cardiff too.

Why should, or why would it? I remember when they were in the old First Division in the early/mid Seventies, & it didn't effect us then, even if our Clubs were going in different directions.
I think the biggest threat will come from their youth scouting network, just like Bristol Rovers had a few decades ago, & Swansea City have now, actively looking for young, up & coming potential players from the Cardiff & surrounding Valley areas.

Make no difference to me.
