Koumas question

Sun Jun 13, 2010 2:33 pm

On the 18th August 2006, City announced that they could not raise the £2million up front asking price to buy Koumas from West Brom. City offered £1million up front, £500k depending on appearences and a further £500k if we got promoted.

I believe that Koumas was the missing link for us that season and with him in the side we would have created more chances and scored more goals through the Chopra barren spells that it us twice that season.

I believe we would have become a Premier League side that season.

Who agrees or disagrees with me ?

Carl, if my aunty had nuts then she'd be my uncle.

Personally, I still think we would not have made automatic promotion. Newcastle and West Brom were freakishly strong squads. Would we have won the play-offs? No idea. It's such a lottery as has been proven on many occassions

I am talking about the 2006 season when we tried signing him :ayatollah:

Also the season that we led the division over Brum and Wolves :ayatollah:

Carl, Sam Hamman should have went the extra mile to have got him that year permanently and the rest they say would of have been history. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Carl, I believe we would of made it that year, firstly with Koumas prob at the time at his peak and the team were hammering everybody, the passion was there and determination, football flowing. SORRY TO SAY EVERYBODY THE LOSS OF BOTH Koumas and Sam Hammam that Season in My oPinion cost us Promotion.

Alexander

GIlbert
Loovens
Johnson
McNaughton

Ledley
Koumas
Scimeca
Whitts (from Jan 07)

Chopra
Thompson

I think that team isn't better than the one we've got now (better defensively, though)
But that year, it probably would've got us promotion.

That team looks gd but DJ always played Koumas wide. He doesn't work in a 4-4-2 in cm, he plYed it twice and we lost twice.

He played 4-4-1-1 a few times with koumas just behind and that worked most noticabley Leeds away.

Are you suggesting Dave Jones actually changed tactics?

2B2H, i don't believe you

Nah, i know, Koumas played out wide for Wigan at the start of this season too.

I'm sure he was CM for West Brom where he got player of the year, in the 06-07 season.

I reckon that Koumas during that loan spell was the most gifted player I've seen in a City shirt. What a wasted talent.

imagine a midfield with Ledley, Koumas, O'Neil and Kavanagh...

the O'Neil/Kavanagh link worked really well when he was on loan from pompey....

At the start of that season he was great.

Faded out and turned to shite, like the rest of that team.

He may have but I think they played 5 across midfield (I may be wrong) which sort of balances itself out.
