There is a special programme on tonight about the disaster but this video really showed how terrible it was...may they rest in peace
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJjsjF1t3pcThe Bradford City stadium fire was the worst fire disaster in the history of English football. It occurred during a league match in front of record numbers of spectators, on Saturday, 11 May 1985, killing 56 and injuring at least 265.including two Lincoln City fans....the fans on the pitch chanting really did not know how bad it was.

I didn't watch the clip, as I remember it all too well. I'd been to watch us away at Wimbledon, a load of us were very drunk. We saw the dreadful scenes on the tv in a pub after the game. We all soon sobered up.

That summer I went to Belgium with my family on holiday. Where we stayed there was a family from Bradford. There 2 kids had been at the game and were fortunate to survive. The 2 boys suffered dreadful flashbacks the horrific events.
Bradford fans have remembered the 56 in a very humble and dignified way. Every year they have memorial services and pay their respects.

I find it absolutely astonishing just how fast the fire spreads. Truly frightening. Looking at the video, If you were in that stand when it first started you wouldn't be at all worried about getting away from it..... But within a matter of minutes..... Seconds even, the whole stand is engulfed in flames and smoke. Shocking horrifying scenes that are difficult to watch, so I can't begin to imagine how terrifying it must have been for those poor souls caught up in it.

What channel and time, can't find it in tv guide. Remember watching it unfold on grandstand, terrible scenes, everybody who goes to football should also come home. RIP. Never forgotten

Really sad day but that fire could have happened in a number of stadiums of the day. The old Grange end was totally wooden as far as I remember and it makes you wonder if something similar could have happened at Cardiff. I show that video as part of training relative to training and it still surprises me how quick it goes up.

Never been given the media attention that other footballing disasters have, which I think is wrong. The families aren't grieving any less.
Glad it's got the coverage this year, but it should next year too.
RIP to all of them, and thoughts go to all the families.

The documentary on BT Sport the other night was very good - sympathetic but didn't shy away from showing the footage.
