Maybe we shouldn't have blown their country together to bits in the first place

Exactly.

System makes sense, only there should just be legal channels and no quotas minimum or maximum.

Which Country was that then?

Ye. Maybe we should have left it for Gadaffi to run his utopia.

As other middle eastern dictators have proven, they are great at running countries.

Like when we left Assad to continue governing Syria.

More than 191,000 people have been killed in the Syrian conflict up to April, the UN human rights chief says. Navi Pillay said the figure was "probably an underestimate" and criticised what she called "international paralysis" on the issue. The figure is more than double the UN estimate given a year ago.22 Aug 2014

We should take some, but to say we are the problem is so, so wrong.

Re: This is what the EU is proposing

Mon May 11, 2015 1:35 pm

If we are a humane society surely we have to do our bit for these people.

If we don't then we should be ashamed. We do need to resolve the source problem but right now people are dying and we need to help.

Re: This is what the EU is proposing

Mon May 11, 2015 3:07 pm

Agree they should not die when looking for a so called better life in Europe, but Europe is sending out the wrong messages, by saying to it's members you should take these refugees, as where will it stop the refugees will keep coming and coming and coming if they know they are safe when they get here, not the answer for me!!

It's sorting the root of the problem in there own countries to stop them wanting to come, easyier said than done I know, but we, as we I mean the UK have far to many people coming into our country every year, and housing, the NHS, and all of our services all just way to pushed to just have open doors.

JUST MY VIEW....

Re: This is what the EU is proposing

For f**k sake these are human beings in desperate situations coming from warzones.

We should do everything we can to help.

immigrants are always given the blame, whether it be for the strain on the NHS or the housing crisis. What about the bankers, who ruined our economy, that we bailed out who still get bonuses? What about the millionaires in this country who aren't paying their taxes?

They're the ones putting a strain on our resources.

Doesn't suit the UKIP obsessed agenda here to think like that mate... Good ole Nige - top bloke, speaks my language, man of the people etc etc. Nauseating stuff - so much easier to blame it on the immigrants and this odious little man has a lot to answer for.

Libya wasn't in a state anything like Syria, Gaddafi increased the standard of living there hugely. I'm not saying he was perfect but it's better than leaving a power vacuum and allowing people like ISIS to gain a stranglehold.

It does not matter how much people the goverment takes in to this country now.

As soon as they become euro countries citizens they will all be over here.

I'm sorry mate, bankers have nothing to do with this, as for the millionaires, the top 10% richerst in the UK pay more in tax then the other 90% put together, and if we continue to have far more people coming in, than going out ie net migration keeps going up and up, it has and will lead to housing problems, it will strain all of our services, and make it harder and harder for people to find work, and in many cases keep wages down, I am not for UKIP as a rule, though some of what they say is common sense, this has to be managed but the UK cannot have a open door policy, but needs controlled immigration.

If you're so concerned then offer to put some up rent free in your household and I'm sure with your generosity then like minded people will follow.

Send them back. Half cant speak English and if they're really asylum seekers then why are they refusing to have their fingerprints taken with a picture and number?

The reason why pictures, numbers and fingerprints are taken as they're all named bloody Muhammad and likely commit rape and crime. If they are lawful peace loving people then they'd not oppose these measures.

We don't know who they are and like ISIS said, they're going to send 500,000 Islamic extremists to march on Rome and Europe. They seem to be keeping to their word so far.

I'm quite shocked at some comments in this thread. I just hope some of you are never put in a desperate life or death situation where you need a fellow human being's help.

As others have said, if we're going to start wars and then bail, the least we can do is offer asylum to the innocent victims.

Yes, we know, there will be bad eggs that come in and I'm all for asylums having to live by our terms but to flat out reject any offer of asylum to these people is heartless. I can't imagine what they've been through and the desperate state they are in where they are willing to risk their own and their family's lives to get to Europe. It could be argued that with that commitment to living here they deserve to live here more than wasters that scrounge off the state.

They are African citizens, plenty of countries in Africa where they could claim asylum.

And where no where near that point, especially while immigration brings more money in than it takes out. You wuss.

So is Mark Carney wrong when he says high numbers of immigrants are causing wage depression - very bad for the economy.
