' More Coaching Staff at Cardiff City? '

' An area that needs improving '

Do we need to add more experience to the coaching staff ?

Paul Trollope came in and there has been an improvement since his appointment.

Danny Gabbidon has gone and was not an effective coach.

As much as I like Scott Young, I believe Youngy would be better off coaching at the younger level, maybe the 18's.

So should the club bring in more experienced coaches for next season to assist Russell Slade ?

To answer your question directly Carl, I believe I need ask you these following quesions:

1 - Is the Pope Catholic?
2 - Does a bear s**t in the woods? (and I don't mean Polar bear!!)

I think THAT'S where the real problem has been TBH, Slade is a MANAGER, not coach. He needs a good set of coaches under him to help impliment his ideas effectively.

Before anyone starts saying about manager / coach roles, I know that it was the confusion over this role which led to Laudrup facing difficulties down the Swans - The European model is that Managers manage the team (and have a hand in coaching), whereas the coach does excatly that - coach them over and over and over. Over here it seems the manager is also the coach. God knows what the roles are down the CCS, but if they allowed Slade to manage, (First team, transfers, scouting, running a sensible budget) and let Trollope and another 2 decent coaches coach, I think we could well do OK next season.

**This would also help explain the STATS thread about Salde - a manager....not coach

:sladein: (Give him a chance - WITH NEW COACHES)

Absolutely Carl.

The reason why the Jacks have been so successful over the last 10 years and able to cope with a changes to the manager is because they developed a style of football and recruited coaches and managers based on that style. While managers come and go their playing style has remained consistent with only a few tweeks here and there.

So our whole coaching set-up and playing ethos needs to be addressed... otherwise any players coming in are coming into a very fragmented and disorganised set-up.

I would like to see an experienced coach come in, a younger coach with fresh ideas and an experienced assistant manager, someone like Mike Phelan would have been perfect for Slade and OGS. Or even Terry Burton back but not sure where he is now

Wez you can have the best players in the world, but they still need good coaching, so yes we defiantly need a good experienced coach

We could use a good defence coach and a new Assistant Manager, keep Scott Young away from the entire setup at Cardiff.

To say gabbs was not an effective coach is a bit unfair none of us know what he was like coaching, it's like saying our attacking coaches were very poor because we didn't have a 20 goal a season man
