Javi Guerra: Cardiff City striker could return to Spain - Slade

Sat 9th May 2015

Cardiff City striker Javi Guerra's long term future is likely to be in his native Spain according to manager Russell Slade.

The former Real Valladolid player is set to return to Cardiff having been on loan at Malaga since January.

Guerra, 33, failed to make an impact at Malaga, but Slade admits it would be best if he could find a club in Spain.

"If we're all honest about the situation, Javier would love to get a club in Spain," said Slade.

"But if that's not to be then we'll have a look again when he comes over and it may be a similar situation where there's a loan somewhere else again."

Guerra scored 72 goals in 149 appearances for Real Valladolid before being signed on a free transfer in May 2014 by then Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Alaves and Levante player did not score in his three Championship substitute appearances and two League Cup starts for Cardiff in 2014-15.

Agent Pepe Mesas said Guerra would rejoin Cardiff at the end of his loan spell at Malaga, but added that no decision had been made over the player's future.

Guerra is a proven goal scorer in one of the best leagues in the world.

Guerra even knocked on Slades door twice last season and asked for just a chance.

From FB

Liam Cardiff Davies he deserves a chance mate, but he wouldnt score goals cus the service is crap to the front line, he would be left frustated for sumthing that isnt his fault

Mark Young Only saw him once at Port Vale, but he looked to have a bit of class, frustrating why he wont give him a decent chance.
