Former Hammer Nicky Maynard has been released at Cardiff City after he was named as one of three players that will be released this summer.

The striker has managed had ten appearances this season scoring once.

The 28 year old wants to find a new Championship club where he would stand a chance of fighting his way into the first team with Sheffield Wednesday sited a possibility.

The Hammers signed Maynard in January 2012 for a fee thought to be £2m on a two and a half year contract with an option for a further year. He made 17 appearances in all competitions in a Claret and Blue shirt scoring four goals. In August 2012, Maynard was sold to Cardiff City by West Ham for a small profit of £2.75m signing a three-year contract.

I don't blame him for what happened, as he was just unfortunate injury-wise at Cardiff City FC and I hope he goes on to forge a successful career elsewhere :thumbup: :ayatollah: :wave:
