A good/honest/decent lad

Declan is coming over as one of those players who struggle to cross the line to becoming a first choice pick.

Manga is player you would not hesitate to have in the team. I though by now after watching Declan over the last 2 seasons he would be at the same level as Manga, a first choice pick. A bit like Adam Matthews who look on his way to becoming a first choice but then slid.

I have a feeling if he does not make it this season he will fall into the first choice league one club player.

As I mentioned yesterday on another thread, he is the only one of the players mentioned that I would retain, so good to hear that he has been Let's hope that he works 110% this season to improve himself and fight for a first team place, which would also be great news for Chris Colemans squad

He will be a far more valuable player to any team, if he improves his defensive game and is a good attacking fullback rather than a mediocre winger

Unfortunately he defends like Fabio! Good as a wing back, but I don't think we'll be playing a 3-5-2 anytime soon.Fabio very over-rated (especially on this board) . Declan may yet prove me wrong - lets hope he does.

Let young academy players have there chance. Dec should be given 10-15 starts at Championship level to end the debate if he is good enough.

Totally agree. Especially because we are not exactly gifted with an abundance of quality wingers right now. Granted, his final delivery needs improving but could easily be worked on. He's not a bad left back mind. Could be great back up for there too.

It's great news IMHO. I think we forget he's still only 19! Just imagine how we'd all feel if he made it big time with another club! Give him a run in the team Mr Slade he deserves his chance!

I was talking to a Barnsley fan and he said besides his first few appearances he didn't really impress.

He's clearly a winger struggling to adapt defensively. Push him up the pitch and he'll flourish.
