Cardiff City: Adam Le Fondre available at a price - Slade

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says clubs interested in Adam Le Fondre will have to pay for the striker.

Slade says he has had an "honest and frank conversation" with the former Reading forward who spent the second half of 2014-15 on loan at Championship rivals Bolton.

Bluebirds' boss Slade admits "unsettled" Le Fondre, 28, is likely to leave, but only for the right price.
"Nobody's going to steal him for nothing that's for sure," said Slade.
"Adam feels he didn't really settle in Cardiff.
"We'll see what happens there but if not all our players have received their close season programs.
"He's still our player and he'll be training with us come the 25 June if nothing materialises."

Le Fondre joined the Bluebirds from Reading for an undisclosed fee in May 2014.
He made 25 league and cup appearances for Cardiff, but struggled in front of goal scoring just twice.

In January 2015 he joined Bolton on loan scoring eight goals in 16 Championship starts for the Trotters.

Slade admits Le Fondre could end up at Wanderers: "I've certainly not had any contact [from Bolton] but I know for sure that the [Le Fondre's] agent is trying to work something out between the two clubs."

Wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed (with a refreshed attitude) TBH

this has got 'undisclosed fee' written all over it.. his true value is nowhere near what we paid

Believe it not we did not pay a big fee for him, Reading were in the mire, and needed money desperately to pay the taxman, where have I heard that before :laughing6:

He'll be gone I expect, he doesn't seem to want to stay and the club will be happy to lose his wages.

Maybe £750k-£1m will be enough.

Other clubs know that we are absolutely desperate to get rid of anyone we can just to get their wages off the books.

The buying club will have to pay similar wages to the player and will not therefore also want to pay a large fee especially as they know that we are practically pushing everyone who has any value out of the door.

They also know that Slade probably won't pick him and that the player himself wants to leave.

It'll be "undisclosed" with us probably receiving a nominal fee.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if we got any less than that for him but can't see us getting more. If he'd been playing regularly for us then we could have pushed for £2m that one of the clubs coming down might have been willing to pay but otherwise I think your estimate is about right.

He'll be off to Bolton but we wont get much. They're just as strapped as we are. I any case Vincent gets the money. It's not as if we'll spend it on new players as the fans in their niaveity seem to expect.

Bolton would be mad not to push the boat out and buy him, he has obviously settled there and will score goals for anyone where he feels comfortable and confident. I don't get why our supporters are putting this myth about that we are strapped for cash? and have to accept any kind of offer  We are in the driving seat and we will get our money back and probably make a profit, as we paid a relatively low fee, as Reading were desperate to get his wages off the books.

And we are equally as desperate as Reading were to get his wages off the books.

Not because we are "strapped for cash" but because Tan has decided that he wants all the high earners such as Le Fondre gone from the club and for that reason we are not really in the driving seat as far as the transfer fee is concerned.

It is clear from previous players who have been paid up and left the club that Tan isn't that bothered about getting a realistic fee for the player but would rather just get rid of them to lose their wages.

He's homesick.
At least that's what I was told by someone who is a friend of his family.
It's in everyone's best interest to sort it, but I'd expect a similar fee to what we paid for him or he'll have to get his head down and fight for his place here
