23 CARDIFF CITY PLAYERS COULD BE LEAVING CARDIFF IN MAY/JUNE

Thu Apr 30, 2015 5:52 pm

" THERE 23 PLAYERS WHO COULD LEAVE CARDIFF CITY INCLUDING 15 CURRENTLY OUT ON LOAN WHO RETURN NEXT WEEK "

" Who should stay? Who should go? "

Kenwyne Jones (at Bournemouth) :ayatollah:
Scored one goal in five substitute appearances, a total of 41 minutes action, on loan with promoted Bournemouth.

They paid a £350,000 loan fee, a £250,000 bonus for promotion and all of his wages.

Jones, 30, still has a year left on his contract with Cardiff, but he’s a big earner and seems likely to move on.

Matt Connolly (at Watford) :ayatollah:
Five appearances for Watford, who are promoted to the Premier League.

Connolly, 27, has gone up to the top flight with four different clubs - QPR, Reading, Cardiff and the Hornets.

The defender is under contract with Cardiff till 2017.

He is a proven success at Championship level, but with Watford back in the top-flight, there must be doubts over his Cardiff City Stadium future.

He may well move on with Bruno Manga, Ben Turner and Sean Morrison ahead of him at the heart of City’s back four.

Adam Le Fondre (at Bolton) :ayatollah:
Struggled to score for Cardiff, but has eight goals in 16 appearances for Bolton.

Aged 28, under contract at Cardiff until 2017, but Slade seems to feel he may want to go back to the north of England and looks likely to move on.

David Tutonda (at Newport County) :ayatollah:
Athletic, energetic, aggressive defender or wide midfield player.

Congo-born, aged 19. Has scored twice in 11 matches for Newport County. Under contract with Cardiff through next season.

Talented teenager who will surely be given his chance by Slade, possibly in the first team squad.

Declan John (at Barnsley) :ayatollah:
Winger turned left-back, now playing wide midfield for Barnsley on loan. Has impressed in nine appearances. Under contract with Cardiff until 2018.

I worry about John, who has never seemed to truly settle at left-back. He’s enjoying his time with Barnsley on the wing and may need to leave Cardiff to gain the first team experience he feels he needs.

Rhys Healey (at Colchester) :ayatollah:
Four goals in seven starts and 19 substitute appearances for Colchester.

A 20-year-old who has two years left on his Cardiff contract. Talented goalscorer, but is he up to top Championship standard?

My feeling is that he will be moving on.

Filip Kiss (at Ross County) :ayatollah:
Has made 29 appearances in his latest loan spell at the Scottish Premier League side.

Midfield player, aged 24. One more year left on his Cardiff contract and unlikely to give up those terms.

Unlikely to play for Cardiff, unlikely to leave. He’ll go out on loan again.

Joe Lewis (at Blackpool) :ayatollah:
Finished the season injured and is out of contract at Cardiff this summer.

The 6ft 4ins keeper is 27-years-old. Looks certain to move on.

Which loanee would you most like to see at Cardiff City next season?

Adam Le Fondre
Kenwyne Jones
Matt Connolly
Javi Guerra
Kevin McNaughton

Ben Nugent (at Yeovil) :ayatollah:
Has made 12 appearances for Yeovil, scoring one goal. Has not played since suffering an injury in February. One year left on his Cardiff contract.

Highly rated by Malky Mackay but needs to be playing next season and won’t be given much game time with Cardiff. At 22-years-old it seems time to move on.

Javi Guerra (at Malaga) :ayatollah:
The Spanish striker has scored one goal in nine appearances for Malaga. The 33-year-old is under contract with Cardiff until 2017.

Malaga don’t seem to want him and he didn’t seem happy with the Bluebirds.

Slade must find a way for him to return to Spanish football.

Tommy O’Sullivan (at Port Vale) :ayatollah:
Talented midfield player, a 20-year-old who came through the Cardiff City Youth Academy. Has made four first team appearances for Vale. Under contract with Cardiff until 2016.

Highly talented player, but he has wasted too much time waiting for a chance. If he isn’t going to play for Cardiff next season then he must go out in search of experience.

Kevin Theophile (at St Etienne) :ayatollah:
Strong, athletic defender, aged 25.

Has scored one goal in 27 appearances for French club St Etienne. Under contract with Cardiff until 2017, but seems unlikely to see that through.

Nicky Maynard :ayatollah: out of contract this May

Adedeji Oshilaja (at AFC Wimbledon) :ayatollah:
Mobile, aggressive defender, aged 22.

Has scored one goal in 22 appearances for Wimbledon. Small for a centre-half, but has a mighty leap. The decision is whether he can break through at Cardiff and that seems unlikely.

Will forge a solid career, but that looks likely to be elsewhere.

Etien Velikonja (at Lierse, Belgium) :ayatollah:
Slovenian striker who is out of favour at Cardiff, but still has a year left on his contract. Has scored twice in seven appearances for Lierse.

Unlikely to give up the terms in his contract, unlikely to play for Cardiff and unlikely to leave. He’ll go out on loan again.

Kevin McNaughton (at Bolton Wanderers) :ayatollah:
Has made nine appearances during his current loan spell, but has been out with a fractured fibula.

Aged 32 and before his injury, was criticised by Bolton boss Neil Lennon over his fitness.

Out of contract this summer. Could he return? It seems unlikely, but City do need a right-back to challenge Lee Peltier.

I wonder?

All those players at struggling clubs, maybe says a lot about what a poor crop of players they are! Do we want any of them back?
