" Latest on Matt Connolly "

Five appearances for Watford, who are promoted to the Premier League.

Connolly, 27, has gone up to the top flight with four different clubs - QPR, Reading, Cardiff and the Hornets.

The defender is out of contract with Cardiff this summer. He is a proven success at Championship level, but I would expect him to move on with Bruno Manga, Ben Turner and Sean Morrison ahead of him at the heart of City’s back four.

If Watford want him they will have to pay a nice fat fee!

Connolly is the type of player you want to keep.

He can play anywhere across the back four. Great to have that versatility in a squad.

You need players like that in your set up. A bit like, for those who can remember, Paul Madeley in the Leeds side in the 70's.

Seriously doubt he will come back tho'. Other teams & managers will be looking for this kind of experience at this level.

We just see a salary that we can get rid of
