" He has no intention of leaving Cardiff City "

Wed Apr 29, 2015 1:59 pm

Kagisho Dikgacoi has insisted he intends to be a Cardiff City player next season despite a miserable first year at the Bluebirds.

Wed 29th April 2015

The South African international is ready to put a disastrous nine months behind him after managing to play just two Championship matches following his summer move from Crystal Palace.

Dikgacoi signed a contract until 2017 ahead of the season but has been plagued by a series of muscle injuries that have kept him out of the first team.

He is now regaining fitness after a serious hamstring problem and has played for the development team in recent weeks.

Manager Russell Slade will now decide if the 30-year-old has a future as he sits down with club chiefs to work out his summer strategy.

“I’ve got two years still left on my contract with Cardiff and I have no intentions of leaving," Dikgacoi said.

“I’m nearly back from injury now and as far as I know I am in the coach's plans for next season."

Dikgacoi was full of enthusiasm when he signed for Cardiff, but his move has gone wrong from the moment he had a visa problem which ruled him out of City’s pre-season tour to Austria.

The midfield dynamo, who has made 54 international appearances for South Africa, has played only 74 minutes of Championship football, coming on from the substitutes bench against Wolves away and starting at Fulham before going off after 59 minutes.

He had made just one pre-season appearance, playing 60 minutes at Yeovil, but he has not been 100 per cent match fit at any stage.

If he comes back for pre-season over weight then he should be fired

Even if he does stay he'll never get into the team in front of Whittingham and Gunnarsson anyway.

It's laughable, it really is. Well I bet he is anyway,,,all the way to the bank,,,along with Velekonja, & about a dozen more players who, if they all left tomorrow, would have no impact whatsoever on the current team.

The only thing that would improve dramatically is the wage costs! :old:

Think if he's fit he'll be a good player.

He's a joke,
Even I can manage to stay in shape for no reason at all.
he's being payed 15-20k a week to be a fat mess.

His careers over you need to hit your peak condition and fitness in your prime by 28-29
otherwise in football your never the same after 30

Personally, I'm surprised he hasn't had his contract torn up earlier in the season, along with the batch of players who went down that route. I thought he was going to be a great signing, a really good replacement for Medel, but he's just not been able to get fit, and would have cut him loose a long time ago.
