" SOME POSITIVITY FOR CCFC NEXT SEASON "

Just had a good chat with Vince Alm, who as you all know backs Russell Slade and believes in him.

Vince was just telling me, Slades record over all.

Mostly goes to clubs in crisis and saves them from relegation :thumbright: :thumbright:

Then the following seasons gets them to the play -offs,but just misses out,but does this on no money.

So just maybe, Slade can do it at Cardiff City? :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Whether we like it or not Slade is here next season, Ive bought my season ticket and I will be supporting the Mighty Bluebirds home and away once again :thumbright: :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

It didn't help Slade that he was slated even before he joined.
Didn't help that he didn't have a good management team to assist him.
Young and Gabbs ffs.
He didn't have the money that was spent or wasted by Malky and Ole.
I can see next season being positive, just need to get rid of the dead wood with high wages and injuries that we have accrued over the years.

860 + games and no promotions and only one play off appearance which he lost. Record speaks for itself. And he is as about as entertaining as watching the Goodies in the 70s.
Renewed season ticket as normal City till I die :bluebird:

Just looked at his record and it's not that good really..... He should go before the start of the season!!!!

If the same vein of football continues and the team are in the bottom half in Nov then he will not reach top ten let alone top 6 :sladeout:

1 play off appearance

We won't make the play offs next season but if that means we are a step closer to Tan getting his money and going I'm all for it

Re: " SOME POSITIVITY FOR CCFC NEXT SEASON "

Unfortunately, he has never achieved promotion with any of his clubs, and the play offs his teams have reached have not been at this level. Perhaps the fact that he has never managed to get a team promoted explains his lack of ambition in saying he thinks we can make the play offs if we hit the ground running. I don't believe for one minute that we will get anywhere nearer to the top 6 next season than we did this season, and I think there will be plenty of managers at smaller clubs than Cardiff who will be aiming for more than just a play off place next season.

if your going to quote what people say I think it's best to quote exactly what they did say
Think you will find he said top 6

Perhaps it would come across as more positive if he said he believes we can get automatic promotion, but if not, anything less than a play off place would be disappointing. Does'nt sound positive enough for me saying top 6 when only the top 2 are guaranteed to go up. I think he should set his sights as high as possible, and you never know, being totally positive may even get a few more season tickets sold.

I really think Slade is punching above his weight in the Championship I'm afraid! There are too many good managers in this division who will out smart him. Let's face it there hasn't been too much evidence to date of Slade bringing anything new to the party has there? Even if he does get financial backing I wouldn't be too confident of who he'll bring in! More than anything his tactics appear out of date! Give us a young manager with a fresh outlook to build an exciting young side full of energy and commitment and I'm sure most Cardiff City supporters will give him time to achieve success!

did Vince also tell you how many seasons he has managed football at this level?

Quite difficult to make assumptions that he can get near play-off positions based on his time in the lower hoof-ball leagues.

The teams promoted so far have played great football

I think Tan appointed Slade to do a specific job. When you interview anyone for a job, you have to have your own personal objectives, and employ someone who can meet those objectives. You would look at a number of things including their previous achievements, and hope that they can do the job to the required standard. Slade hasn't exactly got much of a track record when it comes to getting teams promoted. He appears to be good at stabilising teams who are going through a difficult patch, and working with a small budget as well as having plenty of experience, even if at a slightly lower level. I believe he is just about capable of doing these things at Championship level, and that Tan is not looking for him to do much more than ensuring we remain out of the bottom two divisions during the time that he is the owner of this club.

It seems like the club are desperately trying a charm offensive with fans through the likes of Vince as a reaction to the desperately poor season ticket sales levels to date.

I am pretty sure that both Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo would like another manager to replace Russell Slade but don`t appear to have the power or influence to shift Vincent Tan`s stubborn stance on the matter. As an aside , does anyone really believe that RS was actually VT`s personal choice as manager or that he had even heard of RS or for that matter Leyton Orient before his name was put forward to him as an option?

What would be more honest though , in my opinion , would be to stick to the facts of Russell Slade`s managerial record (the good and the bad bits) rather than to only give out the positive "spin" bits. The good bits , as pointed out by Vince , is that Slade has done well in managing a successful fight against relegation with a few clubs and has nearly got a couple of them promoted. The bad bits remain that RS has only ever managed at the lower end of the football league before coming to Cardiff and has never actually got a club promoted even at that lower level.

I simply can`t see RS having the skill , experience , or respect of the players he will need to mould a successful team at CCFC to mount a challenge for promotion or get nearer to the play-offs than we managed this season. There has certainly been no evidence of such talents in his tenure to date.

Interesting, but still a NO from me! ;)

Slade is (IMHO) out of his league in The Championship and with him in charge next season, I fear we may well be out of OUR (current) league too if he stays!

I will be the first to hold my hands up should he prove me wrong, but he is the first manager I have openly criticised for footballing reasons and I just don't see what more he will bring to the table! :(
