" Mehmet Dalman reveals Russell Slade WILL be backed "
Dalman revealed Slade has drawn up a ‘shopping list’ of targets, with three or four strong additions expected this summer
Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has publicly apologised to fans for the off-field turbulence that wrecked chances of promotion this season and vowed to back manager Russell Slade in the transfer market.
Dalman revealed Slade has drawn up a ‘shopping list’ of targets, with three or four strong additions expected this summer.
And he insisted the high turnover of players that has seen the Bluebirds team changed beyond recognition during the course of the season should now end.
The chairman issued his apology to more than 200 people at the Cardiff City Supporters Club awards night, attended by Slade and all of his players, saying: “I’m sorry for a turbulent year in terms of people coming in and going out.
“I’d like to think we are at a stage where we won’t be seeing much more of that. We are really pulling this team together now.
“Yes, we will go to the market, add to the stock and are in the process of doing the budget for that.
“Russell has a shopping list and my job is to give him the support and resources to do what he does best and that is get his team into shape to win games.”
Dalman is working closely with owner Vincent Tan, chief executive Ken Choo and Slade on plans for next season, with a serious promotion challenge the stated target.
A dozen players have left the club on permanent deals or loans this year, with Slade ordered to slash £12m from the wage bill in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.
Those departures seriously undermined any hopes of mounting a serious promotion charge as Slade failed to find any sort of continuity following the doomed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regime.
“We understand we have put you guys, Cardiff City supporters, through a lot and I am sorry we have done that,” said Dalman. “Thanks for sticking with us.
“This club has a good bunch of people from executive level down to the grass roots and we need patience. It takes time to build great teams and it can’t be done overnight. It takes hard work, perseverance and more. But we have seen and can see team spirit growing and we will take that into next season. That will be crucial.
“Be patient with us as we build the club. We will get there with your support.”
Dalman talked about the Bluebirds ‘heroes’ in Slade’s backroom team, saying: “The owner, to a lesser degree the chairman and Russell are in the spotlight, but there are a whole bunch of guys doing a fantastic job and working hard for our club.
“The technical guys, backroom staff are crucial to Cardiff City and we thank them all.”

The title would've been better if one letter was simply changed from a 'b' to an 's'

So as I thought no matter what Dalman or Ken Choo think of Slade, because Slade is Tans man,Tans to stubborn to admit hes made another mistake and so City will continue with the dire football

I wouldn't care if Cardiff didn't sign a single player in the summer, as long as Slade is sacked !

"to meet the fair play challange" and is this another reason for our "official" attendances ?
Mon Apr 27, 2015 3:01 pm
Well in that case i'm all for giving Slade a chance.

If he's backed with some cash maybe he could change this around
Mon Apr 27, 2015 4:58 pm
Good to see our fans giving him a fair chance
Mon Apr 27, 2015 5:19 pm
I'm still on the fence i'm just giving him a chance.

Just got no faith in Slade , I may be proved wrong but I doubt it

The guy is tactically useless and had quality players at the start. He didn't know what to do with them.. We don't have the quality in the coaching set up for talent.. He needs average basic players to utilise his set up. He can't differentiate from up to date formations and current midern day tactics in football. its pointless giving him the funds....

Fair play to Dalman for saying that. I'd like to hear it from tan mind, that's not bloody likely though.
I've got my season ticket and I'll be there again next season as ever, and if Slade is in charge, with what will then be his squad, with a pre season behind them, then who knows, maybe he will confound us all and actually get a team playing some football.
Pick n Shovel and all that.

Dalman the double header - The penny has finally dropped that Slade is Tan's number 1 choice .
AS i have said for now over 4 months will not get sacked, but if the worst got to the worst would "kindly" ask to go

Well that guarantees half empty stadiums for next year, possibly worse!!

Does he though? , what Slade does best is -how not to be a football manager

I really hope not but with our incredibly stubborn and spiteful owner I'm afraid I have to agree with you Annis
