" The Bluebirds have defensive potential "

' Bruno Manga/Sean Morrison and Fabio da Silva '

Monday 27th April 2015

By Terry Phillips

Fan votes decided who would be Cardiff City player of the year – and the three main contenders were all defenders. Bruno Manga won the award, while Sean Morrison and Fabio were his closest challengers.

With Turner almost fit and ready to start at Forest and Lee Peltier in good form, Slade has the ingredients for a solid back four. The problem at times has been a lack of focus and concentration at crucial moments and that proved the case when a desperately poor Blackpool team scored their two goals. But there is real potential in the back four group when you add in Fabio, Declan John and Scott Malone.

The future of Danny Gabbidon is uncertain with his contract up this summer, but City have defenders who can protect goalkeeper David Marshall.

And Morrison's passing is even worse than Turner's.

Spot on with Bruno and Fabio but Morrison, oh dear. We need a new centre back coz Turner's hoofball tactics are crap and Morrison can't pass water let alone the ball, at least Bruno tries to pass it rather than hoof it. :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

We either need to invest in a solid midfielder who can sit there and protect the back four and takes pressure off the current players who are not good enough as a unit to keep all attacks at bay, they always look panicked at certain points in every game or they need to buy an extremely experienced leader for that defence, who will marshal them. Fabio, needs constant supervision as he tends to wander and makes vital mistakes.

Who voted for fabio and Morrison
Think that shows either how stupid some fans are or how much of a rubbish season we've had that they voted for them

Get rid of Morrison and re-sign Mark Hudson.

Fabio's been our best full back this season.

There's been games where he's completely controlled is flank in terms of atacking and defending. Premier League class and if he leaves this summer it will be to a bottom half prem team.

Fabio is a liability on occasions - wouldn't lose any sleep if he was offloaded.

Morrison and turner both are poor in IMO We should look to keep manga and find a new partner for next season..

I would be tempted to give connelly a run in the side before jumping in. He has never really had a consistent number of games as a first choice centre back and can play. I wouldn't be so ready to write of turner either as although he had limitations he is a decent defender and was a key part of probably the best defencive unit in The championship when we won it.

Morrison however is poor. When we bought him reading fans couldn't believe that we paid so much for him. Imagine someone coming in now and paying 4 million for Morrison. You would think it was a wind up. This is the prime example of oles ineptitude in the transfer market that has been the main factor in our poor season.

Fabio is worth holding on to if we play the right system but I can't see that happening. Morrison is just Turner II. No difference between the two in terms of ability. Think we need better. This is why we are screwed if Manga leaves.
