The former West Ham and Bristol City striker went on for Joe Mason with five minutes left against Blackpool.

Malky Mackay’s £2.5m signing from the Hammers during January 2014 has been plagued with injuries, but club medical staff have now sorted out the cause of a persistent back problem.

With a big pre-season training programme before 2015-16 the 28-year-old Maynard will be raring to go. He may have to move on in search of first team football, Maynard should play at Forest to show interested clubs he is back and ready for action.

Maynard’s last start for City was in August and he’s been in injury turmoil for long periods since then. It’s great to see him back playing, but he is out of contract in July and he’ll be moving on this summer.

The lad is very injury prone!

He will leave and probably sign for Bristol City!

He wont get £20000 a week and will have to settle for much lower wages or pay as you play and unfortunately I can't see him lasting a full season without further injury. His body is telling him that

If he is out of contract and set to leave us why play him at Forest at all
Unless he wants to stay and prove that his fitness issues are behind him and try to earn a new contract

I like Nicky but he will never be a lead striker at this level, too injury prone to for me!

If he stays he stays but like you say I can't see him staying either? £23k a week is he on?
