' Vince Alm on Russell Slade '

Vince Alm
Not sure if slade is the man for the job for those who crave premiership football based on what we have seen so far it's doubtful.

However I have seen a lot worst managers than him at the club and worst football played under those managers. if slade has been hired after the failure under ole to get the wage bill under control and keep the club in the championship he has been successful in achieving that.
If slade had been employed to make a challenge for the premier league then it has been unsuccessful depending where your expectations were or are will influence your view.

My expectation at the start of the season was for the club to make a challenge especially with the budget given to ole. however with each signing it became apparent ole had no idea of the championship signing players not suited to the rigors of three games a week and battling grinding results out, so by September after the Norwich home game I changed my expectations to survival so I am pleased this has been achieved.

I will do my best to support the team manager whilst they are in charge of the team and I make no exception with slade.

Some supporters have called for the head of all our previous managers at one time or another one person cup of tea is not another. whether slade is the man to take us back to the premier league remains to be seen and based on his previous jobs the odds are stacked against him, however if he is given an opportunity I will support him and his team. it is the ambition of the owner and the club to get back to the premier league ASAP so the pressure will be on! time will tell what happens but whatever it brings I will be there giving it my 100% support

Completely agree with Vince. We all know that Slade isn't right for the job but we should all still support him and the team. Half way through the season the vast majority expected another relegation battle, now it seems we're likely to finish in the top half.

I honestly don't think fans will stop moaning until we're back in the Premier League, but at least we won't seem them around next season the fickle bastards.

It said it all for me that he was still blaming ole for poor fitness and poor signings at the end of the season when he had a transfer window and international breaks to get the players to the required levels.
He makes excuses for results before the game even kicks off and that type of negativity spreads through the squad.
He has done tans dirty work and brought the wage bill down but if the club are serious about a promotion push again next season they have to replace him.
Vince says we have had worse managers and that might arguably be the case but we certainly haven't had a less qualified one.

This blind loyalty stuff doesn't wash, I agree with Vince that whoever is I charge deserves support and Slade it seems was brought in to cut wages, get rid of high earners and keep us in a competitive position to achieve staying in the league. He has achieved that, but we can all see from the time he has been here and his last 20 years in management that he does not posses the tools to win promotions. It doesn't seem sensible for a team in Cardiffs position with the facilities, fan base and wealthy owner why we would even think about keeping a manager that has so many question marks over him. Let's just get the best qualified man available to get the team promoted, simples

I actually think Slade would be a decent head scout. The players he has signed have generally been decent signings given the budget restrictions. However, he's just not a good enough manager if you ask me. I think even with the current squad with no more additions we could compete for playoffs next season, provided no players exit.

You really think Slade's signings have been decent? Personally I think Revell, Malone and O'Keefe are all league 1 players and added absolutely nothing to the side as there were better players than them already at the club. Peltier is a decent enough defender for a low end Championship team but would not get into any of the top 10 sides as he adds nothing going forward (his passing for example against Millwall was woeful). Doyle has been okay, works hard but still has to prove he can score regularly at this level (and did cost a reasonable sum) and then there's Kennedy who at least has youth on his side and some potential but has been in and out of the team a lot.

I don't see many great successes amongst that lot

How many times must it be said......Slade is not good enough and must be replaced now !!

I believe business wise he has been succesfull. He has achieved his goals.

Football wise - he was suppossed to have made an assault on the top 6 - This has failed

Would Southampton have been as successful if they didn't get rid of Atkins when they did. A good British manager for a british league, the championship.

There are horses for courses. Slade doesn't have a promotion pedigree from the lower leagues, why should he have one now for the championship. There are ver few bargains anymore. The money in football allows the big clubs to have massive networks, very few escape.

The only way is to gamble on youth or pay through the nose for experiance. There are no 28 year old players in league 1 or 2 who suddenly are discovered anymore, as there are no 20 year managers who are plucked from league 1 or 2 obscurity to manage a top club.

We either pay for an experianced manager- Atkins, Houghton, McArthy or a youngster making his way who are showing signs of talent beyond status. Jimmy Floyd has more promotions than Slade.........Neil Ardley has the same

Director of Football role for him.
