Bruno Manga hints at Cardiff City stay, saying: 'I want to be part of a Bluebirds promotion push next season'
By Terry Phillips
Manga was voted Cardiff City player of the season but said he 'would be far more content' had the Bluebirds gone up this season
Bruno Manga, Cardiff City’s newly-crowned player of the year, has talked about his belief the Bluebirds can regain Premier League status.
And he made his feelings clear after their 3-2 Championship win against Blackpool, that he will be part of the promotion challenge.
“There is every chance we can go up next season and I feel positive about that,” said Manga. “We haven’t made it this time, but we’ll be pushing again in 2015-16.
“The main factor is to prepare well for the new season, which is what we will do, and press on.
“We had hoped to challenge this season and there were stages when it looked possible, but we lost a few points along the way.
“Everybody has learned from the experience and, personally, I will be a better player for that.
“It was never going to be easy when I first came to play in British football and I have developed my game to become a more aggressive player.
“There are not many French players in the Championship or many British footballers in France. It was difficult to adapt to the aerial duels and the far more physical challenges.
“I love the physical nature of Championship football now and will be better prepared for that in the new season.”
Manga, who is under contract with Cardiff until 2017, is learning to speak English and feels confident among team-mates in the dressing room and on the pitch, but was helped by club liaison officer Callum Davies to help him in his interview with WalesOnline after being voted Bluebirds player of the year.
“I have never won an award like this before and I thank everybody who voted for me,” said Manga. “A lot of people helped me settle in after I came to Wales, including supporters, and it has felt good to have that backing.
“I am extremely happy to receive an award of this calibre, but I would be far more content if Cardiff City had been promoted. We will do everything possible to put that right next season.”
Manga, 26, has scored three goals in 29 first team appearances for the Bluebirds and is a leader with the potential to be captain next season.
His cool composure in the trickiest of situations, commitment to win challenges in the air and an ability in possession won over fans, who made him a runaway winner as player of the year ahead of Sean Morrison and Fabio.

Bruno will be touted and pimped around by the club as a matter of urgency once the season ends.
The first decent offer that comes in will be accepted and Bruno will be on his way.
It's been a pleasure to watch him play this season but if he's still here come the end of the summer transfer window I will be truly amazed.

If the club are serious about promotion next season then they need to keep players like Manga if they do this it may show the supporters that they are serious and not just looking to cut costs further
