It’s great to see Nicky Maynard back, but I can’t see him staying.
By Terry Phillips
The former West Ham and Bristol City striker went on for Joe Mason with five minutes left against Blackpool.
Malky Mackay’s £2.5m signing from the Hammers during January 2014 has been plagued with injuries, but club medical staff have now sorted out the cause of a persistent back problem.
With a big pre-season training programme before 2015-16 the 28-year-old Maynard will be raring to go. He may have to move on in search of first team football, Maynard should play at Forest to show interested clubs he is back and ready for action.
Maynard’s last start for City was in August and he’s been in injury turmoil for long periods since then. It’s great to see him back playing, but he is out of contract in July and he’ll be moving on this summer.

Good, he's been on over £20k a week apparently and has barely repaid us, another Malky flop

To be fair you can't blame
Malky for the terrible injury he got at mill wall ,he was just finding some form at the time and appeared to be settling in quite nicely

to think in his bristol city days, he had blistering pace and could smash the ball in

When he ran on he was still visibly quicker than any other forward and he has lost a yard of pace !!!
We owe Nicky nothing, but it was a good opportunity for our fans to thank him for the last 3 years.....
IMO- Before his injury as good as Campbell
Why if we have no intention of retaining him would he even be in the forest squad ? I would rather one of the Dev boys be on the coach to forest.

Agreed. I would offer him a new contract of 14k a week plus decent appearances and goals bonuses. Can't see any club giving him another contract of 20k plus

It's of no fault of no one's, Maynard always had the potential to be a great striker for us but his injuries have held his career back big time. Just one big shame really. I expect he'll leave and head back to Bristol City maybe.
