" Cardiff City: Russell Slade targets top-six finish next season "
By Pascal Lemesre

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has set his sights on a Championship playoff place next season following the Welsh club's last home game of 2014-15.
Slade replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in October, but has been unable to help the club out of their mid-table rut. After yesterday's 3-2 win over already-relegated Blackpool, the Bluebirds are 13th in the table, 18 points behind the top six.
Despite an underwhelming first season in charge, former Leyton Orient boss Slade is confident of improving Cardiff's fortunes next season.
He told the club website: "If we can hit the ground running and be positive for the new season, we can make the most of a fresh start.
"We want to ensure that our recruiting is very strong, and I think that if we get our targets that we can get off to a positive start, and challenge for that top six.
There have been calls for Slade to be sacked, but he insists that they have bounced off him.
"It doesn't hurt," he added. "I think [the supporters] maybe showed a lack of understanding.
"It has been a disappointing season so I do understand that, but going forward we have a lot of work to do."
Cardiff's last game of the season next weekend is away at Nottingham Forest, another side will little to play for.

What's Rudy Gestede got to do with anything?
Besides, a broken clock is still correct twice a day.

And what's a broken clock got to do with football
Just brought gestede up to show that differing oppinions are worth while
By the way your broken clock is wrong most of the time

Totally underwhelming.
As a club one season out of the prem with parachute payments most of this league would love to have, Russell Slade should be targeting automatic. Promotion.
But that's his whole outlook. Always underplaying everything. If he's gonna do that he may as well tell the while truth and admit we are shit.

There's a saying that it's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought to be an idiot than open it and remove any doubt.
It's a saying Russell Slade should take note of.
I think that even he doesn't really believe the crap he comes out with.

After 860 odd games in charge of various teams he has achieved this feat once.

So he's given up on automatic promotion already. Completely the wrong manager for us, and I think we all know we won't get close to the play offs if he remains in charge.

Why we targeting a top 6 finish?
What he is effectively saying is that (a) Give up on Automatic Promotion and (b) satisfied with only 25% chance of going up via the play-offs.
Sorry, but for me, thats not good enough. I doubt it is good enough for our owner as well!

I've heard Slade is rummaging around Conference dustbins for his summer targets...
