" ATTENDANCE YESTERDAY "

Sun Apr 26, 2015 9:42 am

By Steve Tucker

The official attendance at the Cardiff City Stadium was again a cause of much derision by fans.

It was officially given as 26,357 which is completely bonkers of course.

What the club have done is put all the season tickets on there despite the fact many can’t be bothered going right now.

They even added 5,000 free tickets given out to school children.

I’m sure they are within there rights to do that, but when that figure was announced it was just absolutely ludicrous.

The club should stop this - it just confirms we are the current 'laughing stock' champions, for about the 3rd year in a row.

Insanity. There looked to be about 18-20K max. The top their was 90% full which a lot couldn't see from the Ninian stand. But take a look at this. During the minutes silence.

I've been saying for a while I think people are under estimating our attendances.

Our stadium now holds 33000 fans, which would mean 7000 empty seats yesterday.

I don't think there's as many season ticket holders staying away as people think.

You saw the difference 5000 fans visibly made yesterday, if people think there was only 20k yesterday or 10k like someone said. Where exactly do you fit another 13-23k

Why is this still "a thing"?

EVERY club records pre-purchased tickets as attendance.

Many moons ago we all baulked at the attendance figures announced by the owners as they looked suppressed. We all used to say it was for tax reasons.

You will soon be shocked when they announce next seasons attendances.

Why? clearly because ST holders can't stomach attending. That is newsworthy

Why is the belief that the club are lying about attendance's still " a thing". Every club records in the same way.

We all know why ST's are not turning up. They were bought while still in the Prem and they did not want to chance the club staying up and not being able to go.

I don't think it's difficult to work out that we have 16500 season ticket holders, we usually announce around 21000 attendance, actual attendances look around 15-17000 depending on the opposition, so we must be selling giving away around 4000 match day tickets every other week. Yesterday's games attendance at 26000 acknowledges the fact that an extra 5000 tickets were given away, so let's all be honest the actual crowd was probably in the region of 20000, I really don't know why supporters need to deride every little thing about the club

The club have every right to announce the "official" attendance the way that it stands, attendances are based on tickets sold and always have been. (Despite the 5k free tickets that were given away).
