True Supporters?

Sat Apr 25, 2015 7:41 am

I normally only reply to posts but as we come to the end of this season I feel that I should start a thread and see where it goes.
It has been a been a very different season from the last 7 as OUR team has not been in the mix for any form of success,( last season in the premiership we had a few successes ).
There has been so much negativity on this forum with some looking to knock the club for anything, when we were red it was the re brand now we are back in Blue they find anything else to moan about. The feel good factor was very short lived and the moaners who said they would rather watch City in league 2 in blue have changed their tune and now don't watch us in the Championship.
A true fan and there are many, support the team through thick and thin, the club has started a major restructuring of finances which was required after the massive spending spree and a bloated squad.
As many will tell you we have been through far worse times in previous decades,I feel that finishing mid table considering the mess that was made at the start of the season is reasonable.
The club are trying to attract fans back with the reduction in season ticket prices and we as true supporters should support the team as much as we can by renewing if you have not already have.

If you don't like the site mate, f**k off.

And to the op I agree I know a st holder who can't be bothered to turn up and I think it's shocking. Many many city fans have shown their true colours but... This is football, it happens at almost every club and cardiff city are not as 'big' as we all like to make out!

nothing there shows its aimed at you, just an opinion like yours. You are a touchy sod, lighten up, it's not good for you all this stress over what is something you have no control over! :old:

I want Tan out, I want choo choo out and dalmatian. I want a club owned and understood by a lover of foottbal, whether they fall in love with our club is another issue but these lot are ruining it for the fans.

Sensible post.

I will tell you why I haven't renewed.

The club's hierarchy have seriously disrespected the fans over the last 3 seasons. I never joined BU or any other protest, self promoting individuals has never been my thing. I choose not to buy any merchandise or programme in red or with that badge. I bought a blue and white retro scarf the day after the Huddersfield game. I felt aggrieved nothing more, i am no super fan sulking because I wasn't consulted and I fully understand the hooligans days are all but extinct and we have a different fan base now.

There was always going to be an element of payback when the momentum changed. I had our owner on BBC sport Wales goading me "what more can they do ?" I'll tell you Vinnie and it looks like 15K others are following my tact.

I have never claimed or thought i was a true supporter but I have never supported anyone else. In my 35 years I have always dipped in and out depending on my circumstances.

Slade IMO is the wrong guy. How else can I show my disapproval of this and the last 3 years. The club expect me to pay £240 for a 13 year old to sit in the Ninian.....

I will be there next season. The off season will dictate where. Return to the family, buy match day tickets or row AA in 114.

Being taken for granted though has to stop.........

Yes true fans supported the club thru thick and thin but they did so at a time when the club cared about the fans. That two way relationship has been destroyed by the club so why should the fans care anymore when the club doesnt care about them?

Re: True Supporters?

Sat Apr 25, 2015 9:22 am

Always wondered what some think a true supporter is.

To me it is a season ticket holder or a person who goes to a number of games a season. If they have been doing that for one season or many many seasons they are true supporters in my eyes.

Regarding attracting the supporters back well Tan will be luck to retain his 25% customers. If Tan is hanging around I hope for himself he has learnt the lesson here.

Re: True Supporters?

Since the return to our true colours, despite how poor the football has been my hunger to watch us has returned massively. If it takes another 5 years to stabilise us but watch the same sort of shit we're watching now then so be it. As long as we're trying to do what's best for the club financially and have our identity then I'm happy.

You sound like me & my mates.

None of this "look at me, listen to what I say", better fan than you internet bullshit.

Like others on here, I'm a long-term season ticket holder - since the year before we were issued with ID cards for those around at the time. Does it make me different or have a sense of misguided superiority? No. We go for different reasons - to enjoy the company of family/friends, for the craic, for free-flowing Brazilian style football - or the comedy value of watching Leo try to control that white round thing at his feet.

I've not renewed this year and I'll explain why.

Ultimately, I want to enjoy myself when I watch the City. I can't remember enjoying myself this season - other than Leeds probably. Nothing I've seen since has suggested that's going to change under Slade. I sympathise with the cost cutting imposed on him and appreciate that a lot of talent has left. But there are still good players here and he's simply not good enough to get the best out of them. No tactics, no game plan and a general disinterest from all concerned - which is then reflected in the stands. And if the standard of players he's brought in is what we're looking at going forward, it's not going to get any better.

I'm going to renew - but it'll be when it suits me. If I renew now, I'm endorsing everything that's going on in and around the club. My current seat is in the new stand so I can't keep my seat - so no incentive there. The general apathy around the club is hardly inspiring. Ditto the players sold/loaned and their replacements. Management/PR from the club & officials, embarrassing.

I'm going to see what happens with the manager, the players leaving/coming in, the signals being sent out by the club etc. & will renew accordingly. If I'm excited by what I see, I'll renew there and then. Otherwise, it'll be in August.

In my opinion, a true supporter is any that makes it to any game they possibly can. If finances, distances, circumstances, etc...stop them making every game, or getting a season ticket, that's fine. As long as when the opportunity is available they take it. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Re: True Supporters?

Sat Apr 25, 2015 5:18 pm

We want a manager that appreciates us, praises us, with them either agreeing their football is shit but they'll try their best for us or someone who plays on the floor. Slade doesn't praise the fans and defends his shit football

Re: True Supporters?

Sat Apr 25, 2015 5:30 pm

What is a true fan??? Some people can afford to pay 3-400 a season no problem to watch shit football and not hurt their pocket, some others can't, yes you can say it's only because were shit, where have all the fans from premier league year gone?? That's what success does and failure shows the other side. I don't see why some fans think their better than others.

Can't knock the club for what they are doing with regards to the finances. It really needed to be done.

That said, Slade still has a top quality squad there to pick from, even with the departures that squad should still be challenging for top 6. I honestly believe that.

While Slade is getting these quality players playing such dire football, you can't really blame fans for staying away can you?

A change is needed asap, Slade needs to go there are far better options out there who would probably come in on similar wages to him and do a far better job
