A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City are expecting a bumper crowd for tomorrow's final home match against relegated Blackpool because City have given away 5,000 free tickets.
Tickets have not been sent out but fans went to collect them from the ticket office.
The club should be praised for doing things such as this and hopefully there will be more of it next season, surely it can only help to bring fans back to the stadium.
Blackpool have sold 150 tickets out of the 697 that they were allocated.

What a waste of money buying a season ticket.
Our club is run by idiots who haven't got a clue how to look after the real fans.

Costs me nearly £200 every time I travel up from Cornwall what with
Train Fares, Hotel etc etc.....so I'm expecting a refund !
Fat F******G chance !

Don't know why people are getting so upset on here, as the club advertised the availability of 9,000 free tickets for school children earlier in the week, with the school having to contact the ticket office to arrange numbers etc!
As long as the football isn't as bad as last week's sleep inducing stuff, then it can only be a good thing for the future of our club IMO!

Makes me wonder why I keep buying a season ticket!!!!
Fri Apr 24, 2015 11:33 pm
I'd be shocked if whoever bothered to get a ticket turned up. Maybe a few extra thousand, couple that with the ones going to watch the egg chasing and you still end up with f**k all, fact

Got to agree..the club are fecking idiots...fancy getting 5,000 kids to attend and hopefully get the urge to come again when they really should have left the seats empty.

I've been saying this for ages, that schools need to be contacted to give tickets to future fans. The trouble is it can upset people who've already bought or have ST's.
See how it goes with numbers.
I would be tempted to tell the free ticket holders to retain the stubs for a special discount next match. It may get then hooked.

If we gave away 15000 there still wouldnt be a bumper crowd.
Sat Apr 25, 2015 5:23 am
What a miserable lot.
These tickets are going to kids.
If some of them enjoy it and want to come back then the club benefits for the future.
I fully applaud the club for doing this and hope they continue it next season too.
These days with so many of our fans it's 'me, me, me' , rather than just backing the club.

Then again the gate would be a sell out based on tickets sold/given out.....

I think it's a good thing the more in the ground the better but the chance of kids and parents returning next season is even better, good call by the club imo
Sat Apr 25, 2015 6:27 am
It's not really fair for kids to have to endure what we go through though is it?? They could be put off for life with slades team.

A few children from my school are going, but others wanted to go but couldn't because you get a voucher and have to get to the stadium before Saturday to exchange for a ticket. Some parents were not able to do that because they work meaning that 6 of the 14 children that wanted to go couldn't. Should be a better way to exchange.

Well said mate
People were moaning on here the other day people not turning up
They give young potential fans free tickets the last game of the season and they have shit from it
Who knows they might enjoy today and want to come a lot next year
Pathetic to say the least
I'm a season ticket holder and I'm not bothered that they asked them
Good thing IMO
People like to moan at the club whatever they do good or bad

I sure the club gave quite a few tickets to the local schools in the area, we had a letter from my son's school confirming that there were limited numbers available, personally I think it's a brill idea for the last game of the season.

God forbid the parents putting a bit of effort in eh

Surely, if not themselves they would have been able to send a family member, friend in their place? I can see why the club did it that way, to at least make whoever wanted one for free show a little commitment in getting it

The club are caught between a rock and a hard place....
This shows some initiative to counter the lack of any for the last 3 seasons....I had one of these flyers 6 years ago, my daughter wanted to go, loved it (there was some atmosphere back then) and has been a season ticket holder for the last 4 seasons. I had stopped going in the L1 promotion season due to the birth of my 2nd child and Mrs not working, so it got me back.
Why release season tickets so early, with no incentive to book early. Previously it was the fear of missing the next season as we may be in the big time, this season it was fear of signing up for league 1.
By releasing the season tickets so early they gave themselves no wiggle room to change their strategy. If they lower prices or have other inducements the loyalists who have already coughed up will feel aggrieved. The family stand £300 adult £69 for a child is an enticing deal. Its the first time I recall the Family and canton having different pricing
U10 tickets for £9 worked in previous seasons, it got an adult into the family stand that may have not attended. That adult may graduate to the Ninian or Grandstand.
I was surprised how poor the commercial arm of the club were when I used to buy my tickets week to week, they haven't improved.

I'd guess the club did it this way so that the tickets wouldn't be sold on.
Also if they have to be collected then there is the opportunity to take the fans details and get them on the database to be sent info in the future.
