nothing to be proud about, I am still embarrassed about getting sent off in an U16's match  No excuses for reckless tackles in amatuer football leagues EVER

my brother suffered a serious knee injury from an idiotic tackle

getting sent off is part of the game, especially for a goalkeeper!!

I want to make the distinction between gamesmanship and thuggery

I wasn't talented enough like you to play football fella, I had to play rugby, in the front row, and rugby in wales at the time meant the law of the jungle, you either stood up to people or you sank.Im not proud of being sent off, but all I'm saying is sometimes you have to play with some commitment and desire, to match the oppersition.

that's fair enough, I know what the Rugby is like as I played too, especially at Youth level!

I see football as more dangerous than rugby, my brother is a better rugby player than footballer, never got badly hurt with Rugby and played at Croesyceiliog RFC mens team. One idiot absolutely wrecked his knee playing a nothing College football game

Yes I agree. there are some sly dirty players in both sports who would not hesitate to go over the top of a ball in football or kick you in the head in a ruck in rugby. I would like to think that although us old timers bemoan the loss of the good old days, these sports are much safer now for youngsters to play. :ayatollah:
