The Bluebirds have their last chance of the season to win - and perform - in front of their own supporters against Blackpool on Saturday
Russell Slade’s Cardiff City tenure started with a 1-0 defeat against Blackpool, albeit in an unofficial capacity after travelling up on the team coach and watching from a public area of Bloomfield Road ahead of his unveiling as manager the following week.
There are many Bluebirds fans who will be wondering whether the wheel comes full circle and the return clash with Blackpool proves to be Slade’s last home match in charge of Cardiff.
The Cardiff City Stadium curtain will be brought down on what has been a truly woeful Championship campaign for the Bluebirds when relegated, rock-bottom Blackpool arrive in the Welsh capital this weekend.
Slade’s men still have an away game at Nottingham Forest on Saturday week, but they simply MUST take three points from their final home league match of the season to avoid inflicting even deeper despair among Bluebirds fans.
Too many fans simply don’t believe in Slade. Supporters are also angry with owner Vincent Tan, who has not been forgiven for the rebrand despite the switch back to blue, and that fury will only fester over the summer months unless something is tangible is done to revive interest and offer hope.
