" LATEST NEWS ON CARDIFF CITY/SPANISH STRIKER "

Javi Guerra returning to Cardiff City in May.

Wed 22nd April 2015

Malaga have turned their attentions elsewhere, with no place for Javi Guerra at the club next season.

With fifteen goals in La Liga last season with Real Valladolid, there wasn't a moment of pause from Cardiff City, when they swooped to sign striker Javi Guerra.

Having suffered relegation from the Premier League, the Welsh club were hopeful the Spaniard would help them escape quickly from the Championship, and back to the top-flight.

However, things didn't quite go to plan for Guerra and after just three appearances from the bench in the Championship, plus two starts in the League Cup, the player was shipped out on loan to Malaga.

Born locally and with a twin brother having played for the Malaga B team, clearly Guerra was excited about heading back home.

Whilst there was no option to buy clause, as part of the loan deal between Cardiff City and Malaga, undoubtedly, the striker viewed the move as an opportunity to earn himself a permanent deal with the Costa del Sol club.

Unfortunately for Guerra, the chances of earning a permanent switch to Malaga, seem to have all but disintegrated, after scoring just once in nine appearances with Los Boquerones.

Such less than inspiring form has lead Malaga to look elsewhere, as they plan ahead for next season, which could see the club making their return to Europe, if they can hold on to seventh spot in La Liga.

The attacking option Malaga have now turned to, according to Marca, is Levante striker David Barral, who scored a hat-trick against them when the two sides met in La Liga last February.

Although he'll be 32 next season, Barral has enjoyed an excellent run of form in 2015, scoring eight goals in his last eleven league outings, including another hat-trick away at Almeria, at the start of April.

Barral is out of contract with Levante on 30th June, and with his current club delaying any contract renewals until the end of the season, pending their survival in the Spanish top flight, the player has lost patience.

It is believed Barral has now agreed terms on a two-year contract with Malaga, and the move will be officially announced at the end of the campaign.

As such, Guerra is considered surplus to requirement and Malaga won't be pursuing any interest, when it comes to negotiating permanent terms with Cardiff City.

Interesting read, no doubt he will be paid off and sent on his way. The 17 minutes I seen of him he was on a different level, but I only judge players after ten games so will never know. :bluescarf:

To be rejected by Malaga is not that shameful, they are a top Spanish club where they have high standards to keep. To think he couldn't of brought something to a championship campaign I do not believe.

Would like to see him back & given a run of games............but does it really matter if Slade is here? He won't play and even if he does we'll have the same personnel in our so called creative positions.
