Vince Alm " GOODBYE TO ALL THE FICKLE FANS "

Tue Apr 21, 2015 9:31 pm

Vince Alm

How things have changed in 18 months with local football fans!
Every Monday morning I'm the butt of jokes again all the oldies from the 90s 'asked cardiff what time is kick off Saturday they said what time can you make it' and ' don't come and watch me when I'm bad' after the weekend premier games and cup games loads of status about man utd Liverpool.
Many of these so called lifelong fans begged me for tickets in the past!

Well I'd like to say goodbye you part timers he who laughs last laughs loudest you know who you are negative fickle football fans! I hope you enjoy your 6 games a season at the millennium stadium!

one life one love one club cardiff city football club. :thumbright: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Got no problem with SUPPORTERS voicing an opinion but those who turned their back on the club at a whim I do!

Ok who is up for a bob bank 90s reunion next season? I come out of retirement to lead the singing like the old days and we will have a laugh! we can get a block sorted in the canton stand and start again.
quite a few good singers allowed back next season

Tue Apr 21, 2015 9:37 pm

Sad thing is we needed those fans' money

and how much of a failure the club has been in not securing long term fandom not many clubs get all the "success" that this club has had since the FA Cup season only for ST sales to plummet so badly.

Andrew Mapley And they will come begging again when the city come good

Mark Young Spot on post Vince

Kevin Lewis Well said Vince.

Wayne Adams Spot on Vince!!

Simon Carver Plastic fans!!!!!

Matthew Bullock These people don't realise what their missing out on! It's going to be an interesting year no matter what happens

Stephen Fox So a football club does what they want and just takes money off the fans you are not allowed to voice an opinion? Come on, really??

Debbie Thomas City fan through the good the bad and the ugly wouldn't have it any other way ....

Andrew Mapley They don't just take my money I gladly hand it to them

Vince Alm got no problem with SUPPORTERS voicing an opinion but those who turned their back on the club at a whim I do!

Nick Fisk Vince for me it's not to do with the standard of the football or where we are in the league. It's a lot of money to sit in a morgue watching people kick a ball around.

Nigel Kift Spot on Vince, i remember the FA CUP semi final and final when i was working there, i had so many requests for tickets for both games........Where are these people now ???

Jai Forester All the 1s that said they would return if we returned to blue?

Stephen Fox Thing is those who kicked off about the club and did something about it got the colour back to blue... Don't be a sheep and just take it thinking your 'a true blue'!!

Tim Morris don't get them any tickets when we bounce back up

Andrew Mapley Nick come and watch some away games they are mostly atmospheric

Mark Young 36k at Wembley, where they all now?? And I travelling 500 miles for our last home game this Sat

Gareth Seville Spot on, you can't enjoy the good without the bad!

Simon Underhill I turned my back on the club as I boycotted the rebrand, been back since but there's still a cancer running through the place and it starts with Vincent Tan. The football has always been average but it used to be fun. Now it's like going to school, sit down, don't swear, don't look at the away fans. Like the Gestapo intent on zero atmosphere

Vince Alm in fairness nick does a lot of away games andrew

Steve Jones Well said Vince

Vince Alm atmosphere fine when we are winning simon but we've only won once since we changed back at the stadium

Andrew Mapley Not a dig at nick mate ,just saying away games are sometimes more atmospheric

Simon Underhill It's always going to be better when winning. I don't understand those who turn their backs due to the standard of football, that's an excuse. Personally the Cardiff City that is left nowadays isn't high enough on my priority list anymore.

Vince Alm Matthew and the boys back next season I round the old bob bankers up and we get the singing going again like the old days 90 minutes no matter what the score

Tim Morris I for 1 have witnessed some very poor sides at ninian park, Durban days was the worst of all, so what we're playing at the moment is like watching Barcelona compared to his era

Simon Mccarthy It's a drug Vince and I'm still a hopeless addict

Wayne Dibs Anderson My lad does not want to come back , his words banning order did him a favour . Vince it has got worse over 116 with stewards , it's dead over there thanks to them .

Andrew Mapley Do we have to wear our stone washed jeans again

David Keith Evans Spot on, Vince!

Paul Price I think we to faraway from the home fans we should be we the family stand is

Darryl Jones It doesn't matter how boring the games have become or how poor the results have been, I'm still on edge expecting us to win whether we're home or away. Bloooobirds

Paul Price Away fans sorry

Kevin Lewis Fair play to the lads in the canton Saturday singing and banter was great (by the scoreboard)

Christopher Richard Western Excuses all the time Vince Alm ,Sam ,risdale and now tan people making excuses ,some blame the owners ,the move to ccs and now the football

Andrew Mapley Paul in the family stand there are a few hundred old city fans who do try but we are spread out ,maybe put a singing section in the family stand close to the away end of the older fans after all we do know the older proper city chants and not these modern humming and jumping up and down ones

Darryl Jones Chris, the fans have to take blame too because iv never known such an ungrateful bunch. Whether people rate our manager or not is irrelevant when it comes to personal abuse. He's still OUR manager. He's trying his best regardless. Add to that the sarca...See More

Vince Alm dibbs I don't need to stand by away fans to create am atmosphere got some good singers back next season I get them together and we will prove and give it the large one from the canton

Daniel Price Problem is ticket prices have risen and quality of football has decreased. We are now paying the most we ever have for a season ticket yet it's the worst football for probably 10 years. Granted we've had a great ten years which doesn't help but can't blame people from staying away.

Stuart Warner I have lived in Manchester for 25 years, I now only go when I can because work and family take all my time, the northern games I go to, again, when I can, time was I went home and away rain or shine, me, Monty mucky Jimmy mappy and anyone else whose m...See More

Tracy Shanahan I think a lot of fans aren't used to us being crap. We've been doing ok for the last 10 years and have now had a grim season so they are staying away. As you say - fickle.

John Bartley Wilson Stubbs We certainly need something to give the atmosphere a boost Vince and anything is worth a go . City till I die.

Tony Gait Think that's rich Vince lets fight for our club colours u said we can't we must except it , you took premiership carrot n when u realised we get relegated from prem u made a fuss iv been thete since I was 13 im 46 now don't u call people fickle who been thete for years tbere fed up with way club is run by tan I won't be going till tan as gone . Supporters club my arse 3 yrs to late to little to late .

Simon Carver Might have to get the drum out of the cupboard Vince lol

Jamie Kemble Can't understand why fans are trying to bribe the club saying they won't leave until Slade or tan leave. Tan and slade are not giving up like the fans are, they are demonstrating the values our club are so proud of, not giving up and determination to...

Steve Perry <>< In a word Vince, they were, "plasti

Wayne Dibs Anderson,
Vince , I know you don't have to be near away , I'm saying the over selus stewarding does not help , I hope you got a few thousand coming next year , going to need every single person . Shame it's come to this , no one to blame except the club in most areas , we might be ok though rumours of tented village and half time entertainment , get real crowds back if good football not a marquee outside . thick sods .

Funny that. I was watching some of the old city youtube match clips that Mark Watkins (I think?!) uploaded the other day - & I was thinking how I had never seen Vince in the new ground. Ive no idea where he sits actually (the odd game with him banging the drum a few years back doesnt count!).

Back at Ninian I sat towards the Grange on the Bob bank... Vince & the singers were to the right under the tv gantry.

Personally I have not renewed yet. With Upper Ninian shut I am homeless. Feeling a great deal of apathy towards another season of souless dross in the CCS...

But the thought of Vince and the lads recreating the Bob bank atmosphere during Ninian's final few years is appealing...

Too many people are missing the point here - Also this is getting out of hand with some of the posts being made,
Most people i talk to are not getting a season ticket next year - But are going when they have the time or want to.
Is that wrong - have they sold their soul - are they plastics - not true fans - glory hunters ;)
Who has the right to tell a fellow fan what he or she should be doing with their money and time ??

If we were not in the mess we are in now - most fans would have renewed - That's not the fans fault.but those who run the club.

It is criminal that the fan base that was built up since 2008 , has been decimated in just 12 months through bad management by the owner, and his advisers.
It started at Xmas with the departure of Malky and the gamble of Ole.

Do a Newcastle and show some balls and no one renew. Show this circus that we are a not bunch of blue lemmings. Took my support for granted. They can shove it!!!!!!!

The sooner Tan goes the better. Tue only thing that keeps me remotely interested these days are the players, the loyal ones who stuck by the club. I honestly and naively believed a return to blue would restore the love I once had but it hasn't. It just feels superficial and I hate Tan. He might have saved this club at one point but its effectively dead to me thanks to his actions. He ripped the heart and soul out of the club. The damage has been done. I just hope he decides to sell up. I despise the man.

I can't see how Alm calls supporters for over 30 years Fickle fans

Some supporters have just had enough of watching poor football - after all its an entertainment sport and we have to pay top dollar to be bored

If Alm can't see that then something wrong - We all have opinions and mine is until Slade goes fans will continue to stay away

If Alm wants to go and watch tripe best of luck to him :sladeout:

i dont think i need vince to worry how i spend my money....city are now getting the rewards for treating the supporters with total shit...on and off the field....i havnt been a season ticket holder for 40 years but have been for last 12 years....and i simply dont enjoy it anymore....not the football but the whole experience is gone...sorry vince but thats the way it is for me.. :ayatollah:

Some sense at at last.
These people on here with a chest full of medals telling other fans they must renew or their fickle.
Each to their own. Like you say, a lot of them will pick their games & unless Slade goes or he improves the quality & performances then then those games will probably be few.

so your not bothered about the blue as it does nothing for you now we got it back

Cardiff has always had fickle fans, I like you was the victim on a Monday morning of jokes about the city from work colleagues, whilst they talked about Liverpool, Man U, then when we reached wembley, premier, they wanted tickets, saying Cardiff were always their side, now , they nowhere to be seen. Next season, let us fans start afresh, leave the negativit behind, get back to trying to create an atmosphere at Home matches that Cardiff was known for.

Re: Vince Alm " GOODBYE TO ALL THE FICKLE FANS "

As much as I agree with you I'm afraid a huge amount of football fans only want to watch successful teams. Not all football fans are die hard supporters and never will be. We have to recognise this because no amount of pressure and name calling will change their views. I personally would prefer to see as many fans at the stadium as possible be it real supporters or just football fans. It adds to the atmosphere and of course it makes our club a stronger one. I have renewed as I have done since 1970 and before that was a regular since 1965.

Yes - if Malky hadn't messed up so badly we would still be in the Premier League. :sladein:

As stated above, the majority of football fans everywhere want success. They don't care about the quality of the football, who owns the club, what colours we are wearing or whether there is a dragon or a bluebird on the badge or what the stadium is like. If you win, they will come back. Simples.

Its not rocket science. :sladein: :sladeout: :bluebird: :tandragon: :digging2:

We have 15k members on this board alledgedly
So the more positivity the better
We need our leaders to lead in positivity not negativity
There's too much negative threads on here
And it makes a big difference
People on here can influence others ( and they know who they ) so come on start banging the drum and get more fans on side
IMO this board can make a huge difference to people's attitude toward our club :bluescarf:

Funny all this should be brought up now, when I said at a meeting 2 years ago, watch all the glory hunters start supporting us now,the very same people said we need these people for the club to get bigger.

Usually agree with Vince but I think he is way off the mark. Some fans seems to think they have to buy season tickets out of loyalty or because they always do. Its nonsense if you don't want to buy a ticket then you don't have to buy one. Its a lot of money and if you don't enjoy it then don't buy one.

Personally I haven't enjoyed it as much but my reason for not renewing are purely financial, the amount of games ive missed this season means it makes no sense to buy a season ticket even if we were in the prem I wouldn't have got one. That said it doesn't mean I wont be going to games, id bet they will have all kinds of offers on next season. Just because you don't have a season ticket it doesn't mean you stop supporting the club. Yes the drop in sales is dramatic but maybe the club need to look closer to home, can all those people be wrong?

Re: Vince Alm " GOODBYE TO ALL THE FICKLE FANS "

Vince needs to move into the 21st Century.

Like it or not football is no longer the tribal experience for fans that it once was. You had working class men entertaining working class men. There was a bond and a togetherness.

The game is now an entertainment package and people decide where they spend their money to get entertained.

If the highly paid players, who have no links to the club or the fans, are unable to entertain then potential customers will spend their hard earned money down Cardiff Bay of a Saturday afternoon.

The entertainment options within a city like Cardiff nowadays are massive. To fight against it you produce a better product or at least a value for money product.

I wouldn't say that the tribal experience is no longer present or indeed has died out. It could be still here and even growing, if the club chose to treat supporters as the important part of any club that they are, instead of like normal customers that purchase their entertainment or products from any random shop. In Germany for instance, the clubs actively encourage tribalism and loyalty, they give their supporters 100% respect and are rewarded with an extremely high proportion of season ticket holders. Dortmund for instance have 55000 season ticket holders, with 1000 of them being English.
