The man who apparently told Tan to appoint Slade and the man we were taking advice off, now employed by Sheffield Wednesday

Thank feck for that - I was more than concerned that Tan might bring him in on a full time role.

Slade is getting a lot of grief at the moment, and its hard to defend him. I largely agree with the Scott Johnson piece on Wales on Line. I think he was brought in to do the thankless task of clearing the decks, steadying the ship, & getting us ready for the Financial Fair Play regulations.

I honestly dont think anyone could have done a much better job given those circumstances. Slade is a decent man, and I dont think he warrents some of the abuse he has been getting. I saw him on Sunday over on Barry Island with his young family (his youngest child is only about 7) - its easy to forget how his nearest & dearest will read much of what has been written about him. Dont make it personal.

My view is that if he does move on in the summer - paving the way for someone with a bit more experiance to rebuild - you could argue that his brief tenure has been a success. Much of Ole's deadwood has now gone. Granted - the football has at times been dire... but, a bit of short term pain for long term gain..? Lets wait and see...
