Cardiff City FC with barely 4000 season tickets sold for next season
BY SAM ROURKE ⋅ APRIL 20, 2015 ⋅

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=157444

There is turmoil at Cardiff City after it has been revealed that the Welsh outfit have barely managed to sell 4000 season tickets for next year, claims Wales Online.

The Bluebirds have endured a mediocre season on the pitch

Russell Slade’s Cardiff City have endured a tough season in the Sky Bet Championship, with the club currently sat in 13th place in the division.

There is seemingly much disillusionment around the Cardiff City stadium this season, with the club falling way under the expectations expected at the start of the campaign.

The news that barely 4000 season tickets have been sold will not be good news for the club’s financial matters, with this set to be the lowest amount sold in the club’s recent history.

The Bluebirds drew 0-0 with Neil Harris’ Millwall last Saturday, in a game that was devoid of much entertainment or action.

The result left the Lions four points from safety in the Championship with just three league games to go.

4000?? Big club my fecking arse. I'm sorry but we're back in blue now ffs, I'm sure most of the people who have seen cardiff much longer than I have, have stuck with the club when we were in a heck of a lot of a worse position than we are in now!!

f**k it, I'm going to buy a season ticket I think.

We're probably getting back to our natural level. Bottom half of the Championship, and sales, (whatever the true figure), will reflect that. Besides, the ground now holds 33k. People will be able to turn up on the day, and get in without any problem. The last few years, since the FA Cup final, including Ridsdale's price-freeze, the move to the new stadium, play-offs etc., have been the exception to the rule.

correct but no more monies up front, they can whitsle until they start taking the fans seriously, the football side seriously and that means an overhaul of the board and the playing side maangement and hangers on.

Some have just been too long at our club, far too long!

I've been following this club a long time, and I still can't see how people are shocked by the season ticket sales. In the time that I have followed this team, the last 10 years have been the exception rather than the norm. I have been saying for ages that we have only ever had a hardcore following of around 5 to 7,000 fans. If the club is doing reasonably ok at championship level we may get anywhere between 10 and 15,000 gates depending on who we play. If we are challenging for promotion we will get a lot of extra fans who will be here for the good times, but like now, quickly disappear when things are not going well. If we go down, we will be back to under 10,000, and that has been the usual number for the majority of the time I've been going down. I know some of our newer fans seem to think we are a big club, but we have never been a big club in the time that I have been a regular supporter, and that started in 1968. I can guarantee that if we are a mid table championship side next season, we won't see many attendances over 15,000, and will be lucky to average 12,000.

That's the reality.

Spot on. I've always thought that ourselves and Millwall are about the same size club.

It is their own fault.

Treated the fans like crap.

How does it feel Tan?.

Poor season ticket sales = less cash for team strengthening = less success on the pitch. Then all those so called fans will say "I told you so" whilst completely missing the point that they are partly to blame. And so the vicious circle continues.

Yes will complain about getting in freebies or div1or2 players! When facts are they have contributed to the reasons why we are doing it!

disagree strongly on that point, the club dynamic has been explained really well by Steve Zodiak's post, that is the club, and furthermore, I do not expect fans to flock to the club when the miss-management levels are at an all time high, certainly in my lifetime supporting

I can't see how you can disagree when it's fact and it isn't at odds with Steves post.
