The 2 midfield dynamos great again

Sat Apr 18, 2015 3:55 pm

We will never get promoted with Whitts and Gunnar in central midfield. They offer zero.

Whitts is a substitute now Im afraid.

Gunnar is the least creative midfielder ive ever witnessed.

It is down to Noone again to try to do something as they totally shit.

Average, average, average. Short and simple crappy passes is what many people epexct from them, i expect more.

Whitts was the only footballer on the pitch today.....

That's why we're going down, wanting second rate workers.....

League one strikers, a central midfielder on the left and an out of form Noone.....

But lets blame the central midfield players who are at least top end championship....

How can you defend that midfield after not being able to beat rlegation side millwall today?

When are people gonna realise that these players are no way good enough to get promotion next season! All our midfield today needs to be axed for next season along with our strikers today who aint good enough either imo.. The results in our performances are there to see very often but people still defend our shit underperforming midfield time and time again i dont get it!

Sorry mate, the midfielders consistently lose the midfield battle week in week out. Both too slow to play together.

Yes whitts is a good footballer but all season we have been outsmarted and out played in the middle. We do not retain enough possession and we do not create enough. Also our off the ball work has no desire or intensity.

Look at the table mate - Whitts and Gunnarsson have both played virtually every game this season and we ain't at the top end of the Championship!

Chopra & Bothroyd up front with chris Burke on either wing and we are top 6 with those 2 in the middle

Bothroyd and Burke had definitely both left the club before Gunnarsson arrived ( Chopra may have also left I think).

No i meant if we had those playing today, we would be top 6 instead of Ralls, Mason and Doyle

Sorry about that - I see your point but wth Messi and Bale up front and with Ronaldo on eiter wing we'd be Champions League with Whitts and Gunnar in the middle! ( Well, bottom half of the Premier League anyway :laughing6: )

Without Gunnar I dont know where we would be. Remember the poor bugger has to work with the other guy. Wouldn't it cramp anyone's style?

We dominated the first half 68% to 32% possession with Noone having one of his better games and Ralls also seeing a lot of the ball ...... Millwall were really poor and for all our dominance their goalie did'nt have much to do , apart from one Whitts shot on target ...... Our front two hardly threatened with the Joe Mason /Doyle partnership looking disjointed and lacking any football nous to fashion any chance for themselves

The second half just fizzled out for Cardiff and we never looked like scoring , a drab and dreary end of season performance from us
Morrison and Manga both committed defensive howlers that should have led to goals for Millwall

A jaded and overplayed Whitts and Gunnarson partnership coupled with ineffective wing play has been a feature this season

Players have been brought in and hardly used , how are you going to find out about them in match situations
Once we were safe from relegation , fringe players should have been given a chance

Against Blackpool I would like to see a midfield of either O'keefe or Adeyemi in Gunnarsons role and Ralls in for Whitts , with Pilkington and Noone or Kennedy as the wide men and see how they go

Doubt if this will happen though

Makes no sense at all......

My only consolation is Slade must think he is on the brink of the sack and mustn't gamble so plays his 11 best players whatever scenario we are in.

This is our worse set of forwards since we got to the championship.

A fading disinterested Kenwyne Jones
A home sick ALF
A crocked Maynard
A limited trier in Revell
A even more limited Doyle
A poor Joe Mason who has only scored 15 Championship goals in about 70 games for us

An overrated Noone scoring just 1 goal
A china teapot of a player in Pilkington 1 goal.
A league 1 Kadeem Harris - He nearly 22 now and a speed player, so this is his time

Guerra's story will hopefully come to light

The way we butchered good chances this season will be my overriding memory. Is KJ really that much better than Leo Fortune West ?

I don't think Gunnar is a 442 midfielder, but he is closer than Whitts. If Slade is here next season they need to move out.
