Reaction to a 3-1 win at the City Ground from goalscoring defender Matthew Connolly…
IT WAS a case of mission accomplished for the Hornets as they came away from Nottingham Forest with a 3-1 win this evening – that was the view of defender Matthew Connolly.
“Our aim is to win every game from now until the end of the season, so we came here knowing we had to win and we got the job done. We took our three goals and it’s a good win,” he told Hornets Player.
“It was very open, a bit too open towards the end when it was 2-1. We didn’t control the game very well when they went down to 10 men, we should have passed it a bit more, but these things happen in the Championship.
“It’s a bit hectic at times, but we’re just pleased to win the game and get those three points on the board.”
It was a successful night for Connolly on a personal level also, opening his Watford account with an important second goal just before the break – applying the finishing touch to a swift breakaway move which he’d started himself inside his own half.
“At Cardiff I went on a similar run recently and I didn’t pick the right pass, and I’ve kind of learnt from that,” he admitted.
“Fortunately I followed it in and it worked out nicely.”

His decision making is poor because he chose the wrong pass once?

Yes one run he admits to - Numerous games his decision making was poor, Bournemouth away springs to mind along!

Connolly turned in of the worst left back displays I have ever seen for Cardiff City (against Middlesborough)
