.....second goal for Watford after 39 mins, exactly the right type of player in a promotion battle, sadly not everyone could see that here.

Good CB, Average RB

What I couldn't understand is Slade played him at RB then not letting him go forward

Connolly scores. He should be first choice....

Lefondre is a natural finisher. If he was here we'd be promoted.....

Kenwynne is the greatest target man ever to grace Gods green earth....

Give it a rest they were shipped off as they had not got us in the top six and in our situation it was good to get their wages off the books.

We've shipped out out so many brilliant players, next season we are a shoe in for promotion. Not.

Reaction to a 3-1 win at the City Ground from goalscoring defender Matthew Connolly…
IT WAS a case of mission accomplished for the Hornets as they came away from Nottingham Forest with a 3-1 win this evening – that was the view of defender Matthew Connolly.

“Our aim is to win every game from now until the end of the season, so we came here knowing we had to win and we got the job done. We took our three goals and it’s a good win,” he told Hornets Player.

“It was very open, a bit too open towards the end when it was 2-1. We didn’t control the game very well when they went down to 10 men, we should have passed it a bit more, but these things happen in the Championship.

“It’s a bit hectic at times, but we’re just pleased to win the game and get those three points on the board.”

It was a successful night for Connolly on a personal level also, opening his Watford account with an important second goal just before the break – applying the finishing touch to a swift breakaway move which he’d started himself inside his own half.

“At Cardiff I went on a similar run recently and I didn’t pick the right pass, and I’ve kind of learnt from that,” he admitted.

“Fortunately I followed it in and it worked out nicely.”

Connolly scores a goal and all of a sudden it's all "told you so!!!!!" just like with any player who leaves

He's no better than what we have, I hope he's sold at the end of the season. :thumbright:

I'd pick him over Morrison all day long.

Really hope he returns for next season. Our most consistent defender and he can play well at right back, despite preferring centreback. Underrated. Not bothered if Jones leaves though...we need a more fluid system up front.

I agree, unless we also sell the likes of Manga, when we might be short.

I like him at CB not so much at fullback.

Id have had him starting alongside Manga ahead of Morrison and probably Turner
