Cardiff City have released a statement to the press during half time regarding the direction of the club.
Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman insists Bluebirds DO have a bright future next season despite cost-cutting measures
Dalman has reassured supporters that the club is fully committed to long-term success and will continue listening to fans as it strives to do so
Cardiff City have moved to quell fears among the Bluebirds faithful regarding the club’s future ambitions following a raft of football cost-cutting measures.
Fans have become increasingly alarmed as a number of high profile players have left the club, both permanently and on loan, in a bid to slash the playing staff wage bill.
Since Russell Slade followed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into the Bluebirds hot-seat last autumn, the club’s squad has been trimmed with the likes of Mats Daehli, Juan Cala, Javi Guerra and Adam Le Fondre leaving during January and Kenwyne Jones and Matt Connolly subsequently leaving on loan as Slade has attempted to carry out around £12m of savings on the player wage budget.
While numerous players have left, Slade has been afforded the opportunity to wheel and deal although the outlay on the new recruits, including Lee Peltier and Scott Malone, has been modest in comparison with previous expenditure.
Slade, who warned fans the days of ‘shopping at Harrods’ were over in January, has suggested there will be further blood-letting in the summer window.
The club’s Supporters Trust this week issued a statement asking for clarification on what the future may hold for Cardiff City.
But club chairman Mehmet Dalman has moved to reassure supporters that the club is positioning itself for a sustainable future and that the views of supporters will be taken on board, as has been the case, he argues, in recent times.
“I can assure all Cardiff City fans that the club is fully committed to delivering sustainable and long term success, both on and off the field of play,” said Dalman.
“Cardiff City has strengthened its relationship with official supporter groups over the last twelve months, having held open and productive discussions on a number of issues, including the return to traditional colours in January this year.
“During that time I have personally invited representatives of the Supporters Club and Supporters Trust to present to the board ahead of our meetings and both will receive the same invitation ahead of the next scheduled meeting.

“We recognise the importance of constructive dialogue and listening to fans views on ways in which we can take the club forward and will continue to enhance engagement levels with all Cardiff City supporters over the summer and next season.
“I also agree that the chance to succeed can only improve if we are all pulling together and supporting the team in numbers.”

You lot say the club don't say anything and want them to say something
Then soon as they do you slate it off
Take it as a positive and try and believe it
Or don't ask for them so say something in the first place

Maybe you can tell us what was said then that will give us all cause for optimism. The club is committed to long term success. Not exactly rocket science, 91 other clubs will say exactly the same thing.

What it says in the statement saying they want to listen to us fans
Of course they going to say they want long term success
My point is people are moaning on here saying they wouldn't mind long as they said something bang they say something and you moaning and acting like a little child
We ain't going to go further as a club if we can't get behind the team etc
Why people asking for a statement if they don't want to listen to it or believe it
Don't ask for them. If your going to listen to it in the first place

I didn't ask for a statement. However, now they have made one I can say that if I had a pound for every time I have heard what was said today, I could probably buy the club from Tan. Obviously they are committed to the long term future of the club, and I think we would be disappointed to hear anything else. They have already said previously that they want to listen to the fans, and so as someone else has already said, they told us precisely nothing that we didn't already know. That statement certainly wont get fans rushing to buy season tickets.

Don't think it really said anything in my opinion...

What the hell do you want them to say....
They don't know !!!!!!
We may be stuck with Kenwyne or Fabio if we can't find a move for them....So then we keep are "stars"
Move them on and we may attract stars of tomorrow in an exciting young team.....
Do you think they'll tell us before they tell Slade if he is the manager next season......
You're only as good as your last season, and this season we have been poor and on the downgrade.....Ticket prices are way too high.....

your last comment resonates with me, you're only as good as your last season. I don't know how knocking £5 off match tickets affects the club financially, but surely it would entice more fans to turn up so overall the turnover from home games would be close to being the same, just with a larger crowd than we're going to get next season!
